No worries.

I think if you book to go from the 21st Jan onwards you can travel on their brand new ship which arrived in Dover yesterday - Spirit of Britain

Thanks OP but is this per person or per car?

I can't seem to get the date/time right, every time is says an error and no sailing that time. Its driving me mad.
Is there any more information on their site about this - times etc?

Any ideas what are the restrictions are for this deal, I have tried two different dates(with different times) in Feb, both mid week and get
"The sailing that you have selected is not valid for this promotion, please check and try again"

Im having probs trying to find a date online.
When I try and book March, I get:

Sorry, prices for your selected date are not yet available online

Or for February, I get, 'The sailing that you have selected is not valid for this promotion, please check and try again

Tried about 6 dates and they all say:
Sorry, prices for your selected date are not yet available online. Please phone our call centre for more information.

There doesnt seem to be any available dates within the offer?

me too - gettng same error message

Just tried Jan 16th and got £19, seems that Jan maybe ok but not Feb?

Outward Dover - Calais Sun 16 Jan 2011 09:20 £9.50
Options None
Return Calais - Dover Sun 16 Jan 2011 20:30 £9.50
Options None
Includes 1 adult , 2 children , Car up to 1.8m high

me3.

Cant get dates - sacrebleu!

Also, for a day trip to France, what exactly is there to do? I done this before and got as far as that CityEurope place and it was rubbish. Must be something better than that to do with your day out to France?
Edited by: "choppergray" 10th Jan 2011

first date i tried is available at £19

Tried every date upto 25th Jan then get:
The sailing that you have selected is not valid for this promotion, please check and try again

Nothing is available and says no earlier or later dates available?
I give up!

price is per car, so it doesn't matter if 1 or 5 adults are in the car it is still £19

Plenty of dates in March folks - paid an extra £5 for a saturday supplement too :-)

I stil cant find any? In any month?
What am i doing wrong? lol

Tried all 3 months and lots of dates and just get the same error saying no dates and no dates around that!

Ahh just realied its a return on the SAME DAY, silly me was trying to book return for the next day!

Folks :-
I was on a similar promotion before Christmas.
It's per car and for a return trip on the day.
I went to the Cite Europe place and the wife enjoyed the pre-christmas shopping. If it was me I'd pop over to Boulogne which I remember (from a long time ago) as being OK.
I hope that helps.

Seems to be working fine for me. This is a day return only, so you must depart and return on the same date to get the £19 price.

As to what to do in France, depends on the reason you are going!

If your looking for cheap booze, try Pidou in Calais, Just off the A26. Plenty of 6 for £10 offers on wine.

If your a smoker, a 40 minute drive up to Adinkerke will save you a fortune. Its the first exit off the A26 as you enter Belgium.

Is there a day stop off charge? so u arrive on a aturday and then return sunday? I know quite alot of cruises you have the option on this, I would look myself but am at work so shudnt even be on this really. Yikes!

I don't know what the T&Cs are but if you wanted to stay over for a night or more would it be possible to simply book another same day return for that date, i.e £19 outward but don't use return plus £19 return on a later date having not used the outward part.

£38 return for a car full of passengers still sounds like a good deal to me.

I can't actually make any dates hence I haven't investigated further but hopefully the above can help someone.

I tried several dates and no availability showing online. Called and booked Sat 29th Jan no probs. Seems to be a few problems online.

I did a mini cruise Portsmouth - Bilbao, was brilliant.
Is there any way to use this promotion for foot passengers?

If you drive a diesel engined car, then fill up while you're there.

nice one mate !

Where does one claim the free bottles of wine? All booked with promo code for a day in March but haven't seen any mention of the free bottles in the confirmation.

Cheers OP

Nice.

The boarding tickets given after the passport control have the wine voucher attached.

With the euro/pound situation and the cost of fuel was not worth it for me, the Asda deals were a match.

Great.

Looking for a day trip soon, nearly out of wine.

Delicious

Oh seeker of simple exploits, that would be considered an abuse of the offer by P&O. Many have tried this over the many years P&O have run these types of special offers. The usual outcome is that on returning from France they are hit with a full price single. People who regularly cross with vans have tried all the exploits.

dont forget about 2% quidco

Pound to Euro is the best it's been for 4 - 5 months.
Used to be the case that filling up with diesel would pay for the ticket. Not so now but still worth doing. The free wine now covers the ticket price.
We go straight to Auchan for our wine, they have a reduced shelf, and after that stick to the offers, like 2 for 1 etc.
Then nip off to Lidl to check the offers. Not forgetting Leader Price.

I went on one of these with the family during the half term break around this time of year. Its a good day out for the kids and the we have only just finished the wine we bought over there. There is a Tesco there where you can pay for your shopping in £ on your card and that saves you the conversion rip off.

Drive an hour into France to Bethune. There's a great shopping place there and the prices are better than Calais etc. because there are no day trippers to rip off. I also found that the wine was better quality...

I think Tesco has now closed the Calais branch

Can you suggest any places for the kids?

Will probably do just that - can never see the point of going to all the travel hassle to just nip into CityEurope (where at lunch i was once charged 20euros for a 6inch pizza!!!)
