Take on the role of former outlaw biker Deacon St. John: a drifter, a bounty hunter, a wandering vestige of humanity. In world devastated by a global pandemic St. John eschews the 'safe' wilderness encampments set up by mankind's last survivors and takes his chances on the broken roads.

Set against the scarred, volcanic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, Days Gone invites you to explore a world ravaged by degenerate human monsters known only as Freakers. Fight your way across the desolate landscape in search of supply, resources and, above all else, a reason to go on.

First game that I can recall, where reviews didnt do it any justice. One of the best games I've played on the PS4, and many people agree.

Please ignore this post (no disrespect) - the game is awesome!!!!
The game does take a while to get going, but stick with it. Really good game.

Worth every penny.

The marmite of PS4 games. Definitely the worst exclusive in a long time.
It's true that is not as strong as other exclusives but I'm personally really enjoying it. Heat
Great find OP, have some heat.
I understand a few people are upset over the reviews this game received (even though a 71 on meta critic isn’t bad) if most reviewers seem to land on the same score then they must be right about something, no?
I'd be interested to know how many that really praise the game and say the reviews are wrong every time a deal for it is posted, have completed it? It's my understanding that it makes a great first impression...that the first half is good but by the end it's outstayed it's welcome? Hence the negative reviews

I've read the opposite. That it takes forever to get going but once it does it becomes a lot better. I'm going to rent this and see for myself. It has certainly polarised opinions.

Pretty much the other way round, it’s a slow burner. Reading reviews it’s evident most never got anywhere near completing half the game, as they all focus on specific sections and limitations eg the refuelling of the bike, the further your progress that for example becomes a non issue, it’s all part of how you level up and the fact you end up with a dodgy bike forms the early part of the story. It is a very long game don’t get me wrong, took me around 6 weeks to complete playing at a reasonable pace almost every night, but one of the best games I’ve played in years.

Weird. I remember pretty much all the reviews I saw on it said it went on and on and on...and it's mechanics just got tired by the end. It just out stays it's welcome and could have done with some editing. So suffered in the reviews.

Obviously one that divides opinion wildly. And needs to be a lot cheaper for me to bite personally. Surprised it's held its price so well for this long tbh.

Couldn’t agree more. I can understand the negative reviews by reviewers who had to binge play it, if I did that I would probably hate it too but I took my time only a hour or so a night and loved every minute. The first time I took down a horde was exhilarating and I’ve never experienced anything like it all the games I’ve played

Otherway round pal. Starts off not great but improves later on.

I think part of the problem with this game is that Sony/Bend set expectations way too high. Going to be careful to avoid spoilers here as I’m aware there’s folk still looking forward to playing the game, but right from the go at E3 16 their focus was on the Saw Mill Horde - that’s a key mission very very late in the game. Added to that, the person playing that demo does so in a run and gun manner, triggering all the set piece quick time events - just one of many ways that mission can be accomplished (not the best method either for that matter). This is all people had to watch over and over for 3 years in anticipation. I think people were largely under the impression this was going to be a fast all action horde game, when in reality it’s not at all.

If anything it is the opposite, and most of the reviewers who spent a large portion of their review criticising the story and characters definitely didn't get near to finishing it.
Been playing this since the weekend and it's not bad at all, I didn't go in thinking it was a masterpiece and it hasn't disappointed so far. I'm not going to make too much judgement as I'm only 8 hours in but so far I'm enjoying it.
Getting there
I've just finished it. My review would be it starts very slowly but towards the end is brilliant. Bike handling is possibly the worst part about this game but otherwise it was great.
One of my favourites of the PS4 exclusive. Great price.
My favourite PS4 exclusive.
For me personally it's a 8/10. The minor problem is the frame rate it really slows down especially when riding the bike which is annoying. I'm playing on launch PS4 and latest patch. The story is average to good so far. Aside from that the bike and open world mechanics are enjoyable. It doesn't feel like a grind yet, think I'm +20 hours in and haven't fought a horde yet. It's worth £30 imo.
I was highly anticipating this game. Read the reviews and was disappointed. Read reviews on here of how much people were enjoying it so got it on game share. I really enjoyed it. Solid 8/10. Yes there is frame rate drops and the main character is a bit of a d*ck but it’s enjoyable. As somebody mentioned it’s the type of game of just one more mission then I’ll go to bed. 2 hours later you’re still playing it. I enjoyed it that much I platinum it last night so I put a solid 70 hours or so into it.
Just finished Assassins Odyssey and jumped straight into Days Gone, nice change of pace and i am enjoying the atmosphere in the game.

I can answer this:

It started off slow, then it got really good until about three quarters of the way through, then I got very bored with it, but had to carry on and get the platinum.

Great game, but for me way too many cut scenes
Not a bad price, I’ll still be waiting until it goes down to £20 on Black Friday though
Really been enjoying the game but I've just got to the wizard island part of the map and my regular ps4 is struggling to cope, suffering lots of framerate drops when on the bike
Stunning game, not for cod kids with zero attention span, takes 10 or so hours to get really good (mainly due to crappy and annoying starting gear, not gameplay).
Also don't expect non stop zombie horde fights, they're very rare in the first half, it's just a great story driven open world game.

Also patched massively since launch, not the same game.

Have got the platinum for this. Also have an extensive history with PS4 games (trophy level 30). One of the best games I’ve played in a long, long time. Story was captivating and second only to the last of us for me. Usually I just skip cut scenes to get to the playing. This game has over 6 hours of them and I didn’t skip a single one. Listen to the top comment about reviewers not doing this justice, this is going down in my top 10.
