Days Gone is an open-world action game set in the high-desert of the Pacific Northwest two years after a mysterious global pandemic has decimated the world, killing most but transforming millions into mindless, feral creatures. Survivors live in a world where resources are scarce, violence and murder are common and Freakers roam the wilderness.

At the center of it all, Days Gone is an exploration of how any of us would react to these harsh conditions, and exploration of loss, love, friendship, revenge and desperation – learning that surviving isn’t living. For Deacon especially, it’s a struggle to ensure that hope never dies.

Developed by Bend Studio, Days Gone is in development exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

  • Expansive Open World Action – Exemplifying truly free-form gameplay, Days Gone offers freedom to explore, strategize and play “your way” in the vast high-desert of the Pacific Northwest. The hazardous environments, filled with carved out ridges, mountains, caves, cliffs mines and river basins, deliver a breathtaking backdrop to an equally diverse style of gameplay.
  • Emergent Gameplay – Featuring fully explorable environments and dynamic AI enemies, players will rely on their own abilities to strategize, craft weapons and tools, explore the world, and engage in combat. With almost every car, building and environment searchable, Days Gone delivers emergent gameplay possibilities, making a player’s approach to combat and discovery a vital part of the experience.
  • Stunning, Dynamic Graphics – Using the power of PlayStation 4 and Unreal Engine 4, Bend Studio has developed a high volume of rendering and gameplay technology to deliver an incredibly realistic open world experience. Realistic weather effects, such as rain, wind, snow and day-night cycles impact the gameplay. The game’s lighting is all real-time and reacts dynamically, the way the human iris does, as players move from one location to the next.

There has been a massive industry wide hit-job on Days Gone. I went into it very cautiously after reading all the negative coverage (including critical from usually trustworthy sources) and I’ve been blown away playing the game.

Yes, It’s got a lot of little bugs and odd pacing/direction during story cutscenes but the actual moment to moment gameplay is incredibly addictive. I literally play for hours, stop to do something else but want to go back and keep playing. It has that “one more mission” quality that so many so called AAA games fail to achieve (point and case, I found RDR2 an absolute chore to play).

This is a clear 8/10 for me and one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played all year. Going back and reading the reviews, it’s clear most reviewers played for 30 mins and assumed what they experienced is the entire game and turned in a review based on that. Gaming journalism is a joke because all these outlets care about now is political agendas and publisher bias.
In the Top 5 PS4 games ever!!!
Great game. Don’t regret paying £40, my partner has played it every day since I got it, and he rarely does that.

I am all fine and good with reviewing a game fairly. If it’s bad give it a bad score but let’s not lie to everyone and hid the reason you are actually giving a game a bad score.

Stuff the internet! This is such a good game. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Don’t cry , No.1 obviously being ‘Knack’ baby!!!
I bought into the mediocre reviews and didn't get this on release, but have picked it up since. Glad I did.
Early days, but it's currently playing like an open world "the last of us" (gameplay wise at least, not as far into the story).
I simply cannot fathom how it got some mixed to low reviews.
This game is just OK. It doesn't deserve the harsh reviews from Gamespot and IGN, it's definitely better than a 5/10, but its not an amazing game like many diehard Sony fanboys would have you believe. God of War is the kind of game that people will be talking about for years to come, nobody will be talking about Days Gone a few months from now. That's what separates a truly great game from the rest. This game is mostly a 7/10, or an 8/10 during its best moments.
I think the biggest compliment I can give this game. Is that having completed it, I'm looking forward to going back. I sold it to reduce costs but will definitely pick it up again when it comes down. It's an easy 8/10.

You’ve missed the point, which is for me days gone is one of the best games on ps4
This game looks good. Shame I have an XBox. Thanks for the video GameScoop. I like that guy
I don't know what's happened since release but everyone's loving this game now.
I know there's 12 weeks of weekly challenges starting at the end of June does anyone know if you need to be far into the game to do these as I haven't time to catch up I don't think especially given I'm balls deep into another play through of the Witcher currently.

Guys this game is not bad at all. Experience it for yourselves to get full picture. Game reviews are so distorted that it’s hard to really gauge until you play. One of the finer titles to have in your PS4 collection by far
That's why the likes of 'Before you buy' vids on Youtube have such a large subscriber base. Better to watch someone actually playing the game for 10-15 mins (different sections) than reading words which usually make it impossible to convey how the game plays. I've not picked this up yet due to backlog but anything Zombie related and open world I'll be all over. Great price Op for physical copy

The Metacritic user-score is also useful. This game has 81 (vs. 71 for critical reviews). But some games get review-bombed with scores of 0, so don't trust it too much !

What would we do without metacritic eh

I was highly anticipating the release of this game. Read the many negative reviews and was disappointed and didn’t buy the game. After so many positive comments from hot uk deals users I bit the bullet and haven’t looked back since. Only bought it last week and have put about 20 hours into and haven’t been bored once. It’s easily an 8 out of 10. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed!

That's right. I just wish it hadn't got full of annoying adverts... seems to get worse every year !
This game is epic.

Ignore the reviews and try it for yourself.

I only got it at the weekend and already have 10-12 hours clocked which is rare for me nowadays as a father.
