I like the idea of the water container being right at the bottom under the condenser. I would imagine this makes it more efficient.

Lucky you!!! My hotpoint lasted 13 months, off course run out of warranty after 12. In their generosity, and as a gesture, they've reduced the engineer call out charge to half, 'only £55. Still debating if I should pay this, as I am sure the hotpoint will not make it to its 2nd b-day. Paid £260 on sale for that piece of...
Think they made to last 12 months and the ten year parts guarantee means sweet FA.
MAKES THEM MORE WHEN NEED A CALL OUT

My indesit broke down 16 months in. One of the wheels/cogs had become worn, causing the belt to slip. A quick google showed this to be a common problem. Indesit/hotpoint wanted to charge me £110 for a call out. I used what was the sale of goods act and is now the Consumer Protection act to persuade indesit to fix it for free. I found countless people online complaining of the same issue and sent an email to indesit. A few days later the engineer came out and replaced the part for free.
This may help:

Thanks, I will try this.
I have tried many different dryer and honestly speaking they consume lots of energy. Perhaps, better to spend more money to get the A+++ energy rating for home
I’ve got one of these and it’s a really good machine. Had it for almost 4 years now and we use it about 2-3 times a day. Just make sure you empty the condenser tank and clean the filter after every dry, and it only takes a minute.

In terms of reliability, the belt broke inside the first year but someone came out to replace it under warranty. Also a few months ago it made this really loud screeching noise. Opened it up and a small pebble got stuck between the metal and plastic rim.

Great price!

Regards,

JP

I'm amazed that anyone still buys Hotpoint and their clones with all the well known issues which have been in the public domain for several years. Dreadful company!

BEKO is not without its issues but it's probably the best of all the budget brands and as good as some of the mid-market ones..

Thanks a lot, lucky us the EU still applies in the UK now, don't know what will happen in the future and if this type of legislation will be replaced with something similar here. I have sent a letter under the consumers protection right and if needs be, I will use the EU law as well. Is frustrating to waste my time on such things, when I've paid for a brand new unit for my piece of mind. Thanks a lot, much appreciated!

At least you are still under the warranty. Not that will help you with trusting this brand anymore. Things are manufactured now to brake, don't have an issue to change them after a few years but not after 1-2 years...
Funny I’ve just bought this exact dryer from Curry’s clearance for £99.
