Seems like a good deal for an Italian designed full carbon bike.

Lovely bike. Wouldn't be my choice (R500 wheels for a start) but heat added.

I'm no expert on road bikes but this seems higher spec for same money (even with recent £200 price rise)

Link doesn't work??

All depends how keen you are to have the name. The same frameset is also sold by Ribble.

You need to add another 5% on for non members

Not sure if I'd like to buy a bike from a 'pallet shifter' are different frame sizes available?

This is not an online deal. The Costco webstore is a completely different entity to what they put in the warehouse. It's instore @ Costco Lakeside -Thurrock (membership needed) and yes, there are a choice of sizes.

Love these bikes.

Musician

Could buy a car for that.

A **** one

De Rosa is a top brand. Bargain.

Type your comment here...I think that musician is trying to say that over £1000 for a leg powered toy is obscene and that most families in the uk couldnt afford one.

I was shopping at Costco Trafford park and the de rosa is on sale there ,great buy for the price you can buy at Evans for another 300 with fulcrum wheels but if you search wiggle you can always pick up a bargain wheel upgrade.

Saw this instore today, very nice. Person who put it together had no idea what they were doing though, bar tape was all over the place oO

better specced bikes for the cash (eg Cubes and Giants at Pauls Cycles), but heat as this is the best price for this specific bike.

I'd love one of the Italian built DeRosas, but this is open mould Chinese frame with a fancy paint job. May as well get a cheaper Planet X, could even respray it to look like whatever cache brand you like with the money saved.

The groupset on the Planet X bike is better (new ultegra 6800) but I'm not sure if the frame is better to be honest.
I've heard some horror stories about Planet X carbon stuff, e.g. cracked frames, bent wheels...
I bought a road bike recently and ended spending a bit more on another brand but at least I know I have the best frame for my money.... the other components can be upgraded later.

it must of taken you 20 seconds to write that , if thats what he was trying to say then surly he could of in the same time it took you,, the fact of the matter is that its a pointless comment and doesn't mean anything ,,,if your point is that its too expensive then fine , but why are you posting on a £1000 plus bike post , do you also post on £700 tv's....300.440 pound graphics cards the list goes on ,,,,i'll make it simple, your say leg powered toy, i say transport and exercise, i havn't got a £1000 bike if i had the money to spend in that area i would buy one ,,,and it would last 20years easily with some small maintenance cost's... for the pleasure of riding such a bike for exercise and going to work it would then cost me £50 a year....bargain....

What's the difference between this bike and one you can get in Sports Direct for £70?

( )

Excellent price for a De Rosa, not my cup of tea and like others have said - Planet X and Rose offer better configurations for the price but certain brands like De Rosa and Bianchi - you're buying the frame and the name that goes on that frame! Hot.

Ahhhh, made up statistics and first world moral outrage used to justify spitting ones dummy over what other people have the "audacity" to spend their money on

1 in 5 adults in this country still smoke, over half of all adult women drink and two thirds of adult men drink. Therefore, given most adults in this country have money to burn or **** away, I would contest most families have enough disposable income to afford a £1000 mode of transport/tool for healthy recreation activities?

C'mon, you get a lifetime guarantee with costco or at least the six years required by law. Love to see someone try pauls cycles or ribble for their money back after 4 years or even 1 month or 1 week lol.

Still don't understand how a bike is worth more than some budget cars!

It has "De Rosa" wrote on it

No seriously it will be probably carbon frame (light) and have top components on it. I have been cycling for years and years since long before it was seen as cool and did time trials etc but I have always had cheap bikes as they did what I wanted and I cannot justify paying £1200 on a bike but a lot of people will pay the money as some people have a strong belief that you get what you pay for and sometimes that is very true but not always.

You always get these "too much money for a bike" posts... I agree with fr33radicalls, if you use it and take pleasure in it then it's worth the money.

I have £2500 road bike and was it too much? No! I love it, gets me out doing exercise and feeling great... best money ever spent!
But that's my own view, everyone is different.

Have a go at trying both or something similar... You will notice the difference straight away, I think that you will find that the expensive carbon bike with better components will smother, faster, more comfortable, etc.

My mate pays £30 a month for gym membership, and £7 a day to get a bus into work. When you put this into perspective, this "toy" becomes a decent investment!

there is no brand new car that costs less than this bike for a start.

you can pick up a second hand old runabout for this price or less, but the reason they are so cheap is because you basically accept that it doesn't have much life left or there is at the very least a good chance the maintenance cost is going to be very high.

Bikes over a grand, you could say are a luxury item to some extent because you can get a road bike for < £500 that will do the job well, but that is just the same as how most people have brand new cars that cost around 10k while others cruise around in their 30k+ motors. Each to their own, if you have the money it is worth getting a better bike just like it might be worth getting a better car.

Stupid post of the day, congratulations.

Why is he stupid for suggesting the bicycle is vastly overpriced, which of course it is?

The stupid ones are surely whoever actually hands over that amount of money for a bicycle.

I'm staying out of it, I upset too many cyclists last week. I'm sure it's a very nice bike.

some boring, entry leve,l trolling occurring here

Don't wrestle a pig. You will end up covered in s**t and the pig will love it.

Meh. Any bike that costs more than £100 is overkill..

Just thought i'd balance out the usual posts that cheap bikes get

i just dont belive you could step into the same store 5 years later / 7000 miles for a refund

A 20-a-day smoker will spend nearly £3000 a year on their habit.

Somebody who goes out and spends £50 on a Saturday night at the pubs and clubs will spend £2500+ annually.

Most cyclists do neither of these. £1000 is a drop in the ocean and will last for years.

Good deal, top brand, keep posting.

Some people don't understand the difference between cheap , nasty 2 wheels from sportsdirect or asda and quality bike , yet they still feel entitled to post (and vote cold) with a passion.

It's a bit like the idiots who state that £30 camera delivers 'ALMOST' the same results as quality DSLR (assuming its operator knows what (s)he's doing ) and can't get why would someone ever spend 10k on camera.

Or why would someone spend several millions on Stradivarius' violin when you can get one manufactured in China @ £40. Surely they are 'ALMOST' the same.
