Hours of fun for the price. Not the greatest game, and certainly didn't live up to the expectations, but still good enough to sink at least 15 hours into, if not more.

Dying Light (which these games gave rise to) has much more advanced gameplay, but I reckon these games still hold up on their own for a bit of violent fun. They have a great tense, zombie-movie atmosphere, and I think one area in which they score over Dying Light is, they have more interesting, varied environments. Dying Light had to stick with a city, to make the most of the parkour mechanics.

What other environments are there? Have you played the DLC for Dying Light? It's in the countryside with mountains, coastline and rolling farmland.

Just go with Dying Light if you can

No. Own both. Dying Light came off the back of Dead Island. Dead island is awesome. Next installment due this year finally after many many years of waiting. Dying Light is awesome, especially the first one. Own both variants. Cos just having 1 is doing yourself out of gaming excellence.
You obvs never played Dead Island. So your suggestion is short minded.
