Isn't this just for the upgrade not the full game?

I got the full game free on the Epic store a while back, so wondering if this would add anything to that?

Saying for Steam, so guess Epic and Steam don't play nicely together! (edited)

Nope, won't work on Epic. I think it's around £5 for the DC upgrade when it comes around in the Epic sales so not much more

This is not the game. It is the director's cut upgrade

I got a handful of hours in and did a fews walks, but then that got stale.

I've tried getting into this game, I really have. But it's just so dull. I'd imagine this is what it would be like to be an Amazon delivery person, albeit one in a post apocalyptic landscape. Walk from A to B, make sure you don't trip and mind the baby! What's next on the mundane list of activities they'll create a game from? Mowing the lawn? Washing the car?

This is a misconception about this game, the walking simulator part is just at the beginning of the game, IF you get past this it opens up into an entirely different type of game. Sounds to me as if you haven't really played this game and are just larping.

Yeah, all of those "it's a walking simulator" comments are in my opinion were made by people who really didn't play the game. Even for those who just watched videos of gameplay won't be able to actually appreciate the feel of actually playing the game.

"walking simulator" comments come from people who either haven't played the game or had the patience of learning only the first thing from the game... which is walking.

So they think there's nothing else because that's what their patience was enough for.

It's like saying Super Mario 64 is a walking simulator because first thing you do as Mario is walking...

DS doesn't get enough credit for how excellent the action is. So much depth, so many wacky yet viable strategies, and it's all so smooth, polished, and well-integrated into the cargo management system. And the fact that it's entirely optional just adds to it. It's a game with combat, the combat is there because this is a violent world, but it's not a combat game. The combat is a natural consequence of your logistical needs.

The shooting is a perfectly solid TPS system, polished and precise, but the melee combat is where it's at. Throwing items in this game is so intuitive and deeply satisfying, everything is so crunchy and heavy, and it has such a hands-on, 'stickshifty' feel to it. Using the sticky gun, slip rounds, diving dropkicks, setting traps and decoys, stealing a truck and wrecking shit, there is so much potential for fluid improvised combat and again it's all viable and arises naturally.

Also the stealth in DS is great. I say this as an irredeemable MGS veteran. On harder difficulties in DS, enemies actually have near-realistic sight and hearing range, and Sam's limitations compared to Snake and the greater potential consequences for being caught give it a real tension. Very decent AI behaviors, great outdoor levels to play around in, and you also have natural gameplay-relevant excuses to raid camps (materials, clearing routes, retrieving cargo, etc). The scanner system adds a level of depth and difficulty, and the ability to go OSP and loot the camp for materials during your raid is super engaging.
