What is Death Stranding?
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying open world action adventure for PS4, starring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.

In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.

Just got the platinum. Nearly 90 hours! Was really unsure at first, but grew to love the game. Honestly think it's a bit of a masterpiece.

Yes, those people who say it's a FedEx courier simulation have given up after a couple of hours. As with most of Kojima's games, you find immense depth and beauty if you stick with it.
Agree with the above, a fascinating and unique game. The core gameplay is solving problems about how to traverse the landscape, layered with a completely mental story. I'm about halfway through and completely hooked and addicted. Loving the zip lines.
Yes, this is pretty much my definition of a AAA game. As long as you push on past the first 3 chapters (and I'm not saying they are terrible), you will go on to complete this, look back and realise this is one of the best games this gen.

Don't the zip lines allow you to skip most of the actual gameplay?

I played it for 10 hours and got to the second area, that took me a week. How many weeks of my life would I have had to have played it before it became good?

Yes, in a way.

After you've done the story, and want to progress towards the platinum, they are a godsend.

There is immense pleasure, at least for me, in designing and constructing the zip lines. It can be hard work, but once done, it feels so rewarding to zip around on the route you built. There's strategy in it too, as you can only build so many.

If it wasn't for zip lines, the platinum would be 200 hours I think, as opposed to just under 100.

But yes, I feel people who call it a delivery simulator are just bandwagon jumping and being laxzy in their criticism. It is so much more.

When I started the game, I didn't know what I should be doing, where I should be going, or what was happening. I didn't even know how to walk correctly!!! It was a steep learning curve. But maybe 4 hours in, it clicked. Then once the story got going, I was hooked. Very inventive, emotional...and just so damn intriguing.

Really glad I bought the collectors edition now, as BB sits proudly on my shelf.

I'd say 30 hours or thereabouts . I'm about 20h in, play only a few hours a week due to other commitments so probably will be done just about in time for the 2nd edition ..

Haha, 30 hours? I was thinking of giving it another go, but I think I'll pass!
I almost deleted the game, luckily i got a car in the game
Zip-lines are a f'n savior during the snowy parts, not that they're bad but they're designed to be much tougher and connecting zip-lines through the mountains with those left by other players is really satisfying.

They cut down on hikes, yes, same as roads do, but there's a lot of enjoyment from planning and building the zip line and road networks. Without them it would be just too much of a slog to 100% the game. They are optional if you just want to hike

Not sure if it is the 2nd or 3rd episode where you get access to the truck, but that was the point where it became less of a slog. Took me just over a month to complete the story (based on a couple of hours per day). If I'd skipped the side deliveries, would have finished sooner.

So happy to see some people show positivity for this game.
Slated for being a delivery simulator but I highly agree, it's so much more.
Currently knee deep in snow and even 90 hours in, can't relax or take something for granted as all can be lost.

Only wish story/cut scenes where more but I understand that's Kojimas style post MGS4, to have more to read to world build rather than show.

Love it and highly recommend it. I got the super expensive edition and love my BB.
I really liked the opening and enjoyed the first hour or so, but I started to lose interest pretty fast after that and only really continued with it due to lockdown and having no expendable income to buy other games.

But once I left the first open world area and arrived in the main game world, I really started to enjoy it a lot. Even more so after you being to interact with more characters. Learning Fragile's story, and Mama's, and I was in love with the world of the game. The gameplay itself is very unique but I started to love that too once I got the hang of it.

By the time I'd finished the two plus hours of ending cutscenes, I was shedding actual tears. I went on to platinum the game, ending up at over 100 hours played. I still listen to the soundtrack months later, all those Low Roar songs, the Chvrches one, the epic "BB's Theme". One of my very favourite games of this generation. I know it's not for everyone, but I'm so glad I didn't give up on it.
