Yes I would imagine you can pull the wire up and shorten the cable, tempted but not sure on bulb type, need the right fitting for my hue bulb
Would this take a normal screw in bulb?

Came with the ball lamp inside. However its very heavy, too heavy for plaster ceiling!

I used a piece of wood to distribute the weight above the plaster. I've gave it a good tug and highly doubt it's going anywhere. Shame I'm gonna have to take it down and send it back.
