Lidl (Abbeywood) have had a few lying around in the clearance area for 7.99£..bought one one but yet to fit it ...also looking into Zwift for an indoor immersive experience

Got one of these in January (at the same price) just got around to fitting it, absolutely brilliant bit of kit... I use mine with Wahoo (you can upload that data to Strava or whatever) it auto-connects and works flawlessly. Absolute bargain.

I'm at the very early stages of looking into zwift. Apologies if this is a dumb question, but would I be able to use this on an exercise bike of some sort?

There are two sensors which detect a magnet passing, one on the wheel and one on the crank....
So, I suppose, it depends on the geometry of the exercise bike, obviously there are no spokes to fix the wheel magnet to but you could use a heavy glue?

no longer able to upload from wahoo to Garmin connect

These are good but I would recommend the Garmin GSC-10, more money but no magnets to faff with, just a sensor on the hub and one on the left crank and it's all done with gyros. I found magnet ones a real hassle to setup and can suffer dropouts.

But isn't Garmin's sensor ant+ only? And how much hassle are magnets really? You set it up once and if done well never have to touch it again other than to change battery.

As well as being Ant+ only the GSC-10 does need magnets. You are thinking of 010-12104-00 which is still Ant+ only and over £40.

Yes. Not sure why I called it the GSC-10, which I hated (I guess the name is a bit more catchy than 010-12104-00). ANT+ is kind of the standard for heart rate and sensors like this, I just assumed most serious cyclists had some sort of Garmin or similar system that has both BT and ANT+. You can get the one I was referencing for a lot less though, I've seen them for £20 before. As to magnets, yes they should work fine but I've noticed you can get missed readings (not sure why, maybe things like wheel flex under load).

I find my BTwin works flawlessly, the set up is a bit clunky but mine hasn't missed a beat in the week I've been using it... the best 14 quid I've ever spent on training kit... I was under the impression my cadence was higher than it actually is and have pushed my training accordingly
I also recommend the TrainingPeak app to which you can upload your Wahoo data... Just need a decent heart rate monitor so I can merge all my data onto Strava or TP now. My Gear S2 is decent but totally incompatible with any app it seems.
