The Ukulele seems quite a popular instrument at the moment with kids taking it up, I noticed LIDL have a fairly decent beginners set with a decent looking wooden Uke, plectrum and instructional book.

For £17.99 I think its pretty good, as LIDL generally do decent stuff. I'll reserve judgement until I see it myself, but I don't think I've ever had anything that was rubbish from ALDI or LIDL

Other decent looking music stuff as well, like guitars

I should point out that the picture is of a Banjo Ukulele
I could use this "when i'm cleaning winda's"
For a decent entry level ukulele I would recommend a Kala MK-S Makala Soprano Ukulele. £22.63 delivered from Amazon (Dispatched from and sold by Normans Musical Instruments).Click Here
I saw these yesterday while leaning on a lamppost at the corner of LIDL
Whats the difference, between this and a banjo?
A banjo is much bigger and looks like a banjo, this is a wooden Ukulele, looks like a small guitar.

George Formby played either a Banjo Ukulele or a Banjolele at different points, much more expensive and a different sound, basically a banjo version of a ukulele, 4 strings, etc.
If I were you I'd start with one of these before investing in a proper banjo ukulele, I have a Banjo Uke but think I'll get one of these as they are quieter and I can carry it around with no major worry that it'll get damaged.
George Formby's mum used to live around the corner from my Nan.
Heat added.
Turned out nice again

At Lidl's
Don't know if its a regional thing, but here this is not available until Thurs 17 Nov.
"She was a natural blonde.
She wasn't a natural blonde."

Idiot.
Always wanted to try a Ukelele so Ill pop in later

George Harrison loved them
my daughter plays it. they teach it in her school (primary), its fab, not a bad price at all for a beginners, prob not come with great strings but these are easilly replaced, massively enhancing the sound. we got hers from windows, (only in the north east i think - not literally tho, in b4u!) heat addedd!

Not that cryptic- I got it straight away. Disagree though, I think its a pleasant ad, unlike some of the bilge forced down our throats.

...and I'd give it one.
Being made even more popular by Pearl Jams Eddie Vedder's new album , which is pretty good but i am a massive PJ fan anyway.
Thanks for this - nice spot!

Some of the other items (particularly the stands) look OK too. No doubt they'll appear as individual postings later

Bit of a bum note at 2.30 lol. Incredible.
If you like ukelele music, look out for Sophie Madeleine and her album The Rhythm You Started.

Good deal by the way, I'm almost tempted to look for one, used to play the guitar badly when I was younger, might be worth giving it a try.

Hmm - maybe a stupid question, but anyone have any idea what the electro-acoustic guitar is like??

And thanks for the post.
Can you play songs by Noah & The Whale on this?

Me? Nah.
Fancied treating myself to an electro acoustic LEFT HANDED guitar which shall no doubt not be stocked, but for 17.99 I don't mind learning it right handed, heat added!

Oops. I need to make a correction.
Actually, the first string, the G string, is a high string. The lowest string is the C string. So its more correct to say GCEA from left to right.

Remove the strings and restring it AECG and reverse the saddle. Its probably just a straight bit of plastic without and shapping anyway. You now have a left handed uke!
Yeh for left handed turn it upside down, doubt it'll make a difference.

Would assume the CD would come with some sort of tuning sample, but an electric tuner is probably a good idea

Actualy, the nut might cause a problem as it would be (or should be) cut just right for the string. You could replace the nut and recut it but thats too much hassle for this.
Yeah I don't mind just reversing the chord shapes, I'm sure I'll be able to manage on 4 strings, can't be that awkward shapes to hold surely on a neck that thin! Thanks for your reply though.
Play it upside down like Hendrix
Is it on sale now?
this is the normal price in most music stores these days.

This man speaks the truth , i play ukulele and the first one i owned was a Makala Dolphin and they are absolutely superb and highly regarded in the ukulele underground forums. Beautiful sound great set up and if strung with Aquilas you have an amazing instrument . Stay clear of any other Uke under £30 (including the Mahalos all over ebay)
I still use my Dolphin all the time even though ive splashed out on a concert Lanikai uke now .
