Thanks for posting this Captain H

I was in B&Q this morning and one of the staff said 'Do you want decking?'

Didn't realise they opened that early on a Sunday.

no B& Q are open today as are no comet, curry etc etc is easter sunday!

Does tanalised mean the boards are treated through the whole wood?.I got a load of the £2.40 Going Going Gone boards and they were only treated on the surface and a hand saw cut thorugh in two cuts (I think they were made of sawdust held together with a Pritt stick sauce).
This could be a really good deal as I am constructing a deck of epic proportions.

very good price, though they have shortened the standard width of 140/144mm to 120mm....cheeky so and so's.

bought 20 of these yesterday to build some planters - they are pretty good boards although they aren't treated all the way through.

take care when choosing the board though, they can be quite knotty....

oh and before I forget, there are boxes of 200 decking screws with a free drill bit on half price too, were £7.00 odd, reduced to £3.48 i think - made building the planters yesterday a breeze

Check your local Wickes for Decking stain / preserver.

We picked some Oak ones from Hedge End store yesterday @ only £4.89 for 2.5l, after phoning them with the product code.

And they're thinner than the 28mm boards I was looking at with Wickes...

I wouldn't do any "epic proportion building" if you don't know what Tanalised means :whistling:

Good spot, will have to go and look at them in B&Q tomorrow. I've already had my eye on the ones in Wickes @ £3.99 which are very good quality.

Here's a tip, don't buy 'decking joists' this is just a fancy name to increase the price. You can get sawn treated timber from the timber section of any diy store at a fraction of the cost.

Nice one cap heat and rep.

Bargain price this, have these on our decking that we put down last year, lasting really well indeed-recommended!(heat added):)

I should thinkit would be OK

I fitted 18 boards in a 206 hatchback (from passenger footwell, over reclined passenger seat and resting on rear seats (mere millimeters away from the rear window).

i worked it out for the size difference etc of these boards to the wickes ones and these do work out cheaper. As long as the base is good for the decking it should'nt be a problem that they are smaller woudl it??? and also is anyone any good at advising me to where best to put the supporting posts in etc if I drew up a plan?

This is hot UK deals, right?

Check your facts before making such sweeping generalisations.

Man, that's going to be the smallest deck ever! And how are you going to fit the garden table and chairs in?

At least they can move it round to catch the sun

will have a look thanks

Does anyone know where to get the supporting beams at a decent price?

These will do the job for me
diy.com/diy…lse

MInd you thats not the correct picture, these are nearly half as thick as the width

Could I be a pain and ask someone to work out how many of these I need please? I measured 5m x 2.5m.

Original Poster

Boards are 2.4m long and about 7 to the metre. So, 5m x 2.4m (a bit less than you want i realise) would be 35 boards.

If you want tham in the other direction you could do 4.8m (2 boards) x just under 2.4m (17 boards) =34 boards.

So approx 34/35 boards, unless you want to start doing a lot more joinery than you might possibly like/ have time to do. Took me blooming ages!

Hi,

Anyone know if this deal is still on - or best place for decking ....looking for 30m2 deckintg and 27 linear metres of fetheredge fencing with cant rails and boards.

Cheers all.
