thanks - looks decent - may well go and get one

I've got one that looks IDENTICAL to this (but was branded "Neka" or similar).

It's great value for money and I'd recommend it. I only have two negative things about it:

1. To see the clock, you have to hold the clock button for 2 seconds, then it only shows the time for about 5 seconds
2. It will only bluetooth pair with phones... No issues with my iPhone, but it wouldnt connect with an iPod nano (both latest models)

EDIT: of course they might not even be the same internals, just the same front! but keep the above in mind if that would affect you

Shame it's not DAB, will be useless in a few years time when the switchover happens.

Don't hold your breath mate; we're talking YEARS before that happens!

Thank you, I'm here all week....

Yeah dab would require everyone to switch, most new cars still don't come with it, I don't see it happening tbh I think its more likely we will see online car stereos in a few years. Anyway hot deal, can't remember the last time I used a CD, nfact don't think I ever have in my car of 2 years. USB ftw! It annoys me when I get in my mums car and every pocket and storage space is full of CD cases and CD's.

4x25 is abit weak but fine for standard speakers in an old runabout

Does the unit come with a built in microphone do you know?

I agree power is too low. you'll be thinking of changing in no time

How does the bluetooth connection work, do you play the music on your phone and then this just acts as a bluetooth speaker?

Do these come with the metal cage for it to slide into when you fit it?

4 x 25w is the true wattage for these things, 4x52 as quoted in many head units is usually the max super power dooper hyper power, which means nowt.

It will come with the cage, bluetooth works with your phone, it will have a little microphone hidden in it somewhere and the calls will come through the car speakers, no music by the looks of things.

if you look at the pic , on the bottom right hand side is a tiny hole with the word "mic" above it.

Decent for the price, got one the last time it was posted, Its by Maxtek and the Bluetooth's not very good. Put it this way... people hate calling me when im driving.

For the price, i wouldn't change a thing.

Yes and yes
Also works as hands free calling too
It's also a standard size stereo in width so would fit your normal case if yours is single din... If double din then you just need a double to single din case adapter about £5 on Amazon and eBay

The government has said that once a switchover is announced a further two years will pass before the actual switchover takes place.

FM will be around for a while yet – there is currently no fixed date to announce a switchover to digital radio.

Me personally think your looking at about 2020...then it will be like the TV - will go area by area

Cheers, just done some research on replacing a Citroen C1 stereo and it appears I would need to buy a new facia plate and an ISO extension (the wiring on the C1 is not standard which would mean all the stereo presets would reset when I turn the engine off).

Might just buy an aux bluetooth adapter instead.

I had one from Lidl a year or two ago. On the rear is a tiny antenna for bluetooth. It comes with a plug in mic on a wire which was long enough to run under the steering column and up the trim to just below the visor.
Can call from them and play music. Call stops music and starts again when you end the call, which you can do from the unit.
Easy to connect and I had no issues with it.

My vauxhall was the same
If that's the only problem
There are 2 live wires
One permanent and one switchable
You just need to change them round.
The permanent is for your memory I.e radio presets and the switchable is so the stereo doesn't turn on without the ignition . Although my standard ford focus stereo turns on with no key in ignition anyway ... The standard ISO lead you also need is only a few quid on eBay or Amazon if you don't fancy swapping the live wires over, I have the one with the CD player in and it plays mp3s via disc, USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, and sd card, as well as hands free calling. And does have a built in mic in the stereo... Never had no problem with the hands free calling

But is that 25w RMS? I'm guessing it doesn't have RCA output so that's something to consider but for £35 you can't expect too much and what it does have is incredible value for just a straight swap.

What do you mean no music - it has A2DP and even states "music streaming" in the picture.

DAB is good if you want the live broadcasts of sports events which aren't available by streaming. However, you then need a DAB aerial, which is fiddly to fit for the ones that give good reception. By the time that AM radio gets switched off, then FM radio will be fine for traffic news, and streaming audio by the internet will give a wider range of stuff than a handful of low bit rate DAB stations.

I would quite like to keep the use of the steering wheel remote controls. The Alpine UTE-72BT is £75 at Halfords halfords.com/web…655 and would cost another ~ £40 for the adaptor leads to connect up to my car's wiring loom and steering wheel remote. This one would be a lot cheaper though...

Yes, that's what I meant. Wow, that's impressive. How many outputs are there, is it just for the sub or also front channel? Even if it is just a sub, that isn't bad at all!

If I remember correctly
There is one fixed to the to the stereo for front speakers
And one for sub possibly a single yellow phone
Will check on mine when I get in
As it's not in the car ...
If you pm me your email address will take a photo
And email it you.
Although bearing in mind mine is a different make
Again from Aldi think the make is auto sound
And has a cd drive , but mate next door has a
Deckless one from last year from Aldi think make is
Mistech of something was £40 from their
And is running his sub from it

My local Aldi had these on sale tonight, must have been old stock from the last time they were selling them as they were priced at £39.99.

Got one of these this morning and there is no port for steering wheel controls.

Also there is no cage included in the box and I also had to go and buy a female to male aerial adapter.

The bluetooth connection for playing music works really well.

Does anyone know how to get the clock to display?

What's the call quality like for the Bluetooth, have you tried?

Just bought one and fitted to my Mrs peugeot 206

In the box you should get stereo, facia surround, faceplate, release keys, ISO cables, remote control, instruction booklet and mounting cage

seems pretty good. I wouldnt put it in my car (got an Alpine) but someone who's not particularly into sound quality and just wants more functionality (hooks it up to her iphone). it seems great. can't go wrong either with a 3 year warranty

In my box was:

1 x Car stereo
1 x Fascia carry case
1 x ISO cables
1 x Aux cable
1 x Remote control

Strangely the stereo pictured on the box and on the instructions has 6 numbered buttons across the bottom but the stereo only has 5 buttons.

Scrub the last line of my last post. My stereo is identical to the one pictured.

Just tried the bluetooth for a phone call and it sounded great to me.

To make the sound better I have adjusted the Bass and Treble and turned the Loud setting on.

Just realised that when you take the stereo out of box it is already inside the cage so I had just fitted the stereo and cage in one go LOL.

Cheers, managed to get the last one in the shop. Yeah, the buttons are weird... 4 "buttons", but 2 of those are double-buttons, and 2 are single. Bit of a weird layout.
