This was first released in 2000, and is still available (cheapest I can find is £8.99 (also at HMV)), but it is being reissued in 1 months time, and well, quite frankly £3.99 for a live Deep Purple DVD seems a decent bargain to me.

British prog-rock/metal band Deep Purple were at the pinnacle of their career in the 1970's, but they have proven to be a band that just keeps on plugging. Since 1968, the band (whose line-up has changed multiple times) have released album after album, many with Top 40 hits. This concert video, filmed London's Royal Albert Hall in 1999, proves that true rock musicians like the Deep Purple men never wind down!
Synopsis In 1969 Deep Purple premiered Jon Lord s groundbreaking Concerto For Group And Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. Thirty years later, in September 1999, Deep Purple and the London Symphony Orchestra returned to the same venue for the concerto s second performance. The centrepiece of the concert is of course the concerto itself but it is preceded by a short set of other Jon Lord tracks, songs from Roger Glover s Butterfly Ball (sung by Ronnie James Dio) and Ian Paice s jazz arrangement of the early Purple classic Wring That Neck . Following the concerts are five Deep Purple classics culminating with Smoke On The Water . Line-up Ian Gillan (vocals), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards), Steve Morse (guitar), Ian Paice (drums)

I used to own this as a VHS. I like it very much. Concerto for Group & Orchestra's good, but the arranged version of Pictures of Home sounds even better to me.

cool .

I bought my LP in 1970 and it still plays well! Perhaps I'll celebrate the anniversary (and splash out) by going out and purchasing a new needle for the record player!
