Great little game that gets a serious amount of love. Very accessible and light but great fun (allegedly). 7.1 on BGG . NBP is Amazon

Playthrough video

A group of poor explorers hoping to get rich quickly heads out to recover treasures from some undersea ruins. They're all rivals, but their budgets force them all to share a single rented submarine. In the rented submarine, they all have to share a single tank of air, as well. If they don't get back to the sub before they run out of air, they'll drop all their treasure. Now it's time to see who can bring home the greatest riches. Game Objective The game takes place over 3 rounds, and the player to gain the most points over the 3 rounds is the winner. In order to gain points, you must bring the most ruins chips back to the submarine. You can only return to the submarine once per round, and you cannot progress more after returning. You cannot return to the submarine without bringing any ruins chips. Turn Progression On their turns, players conduct steps 1-4 listed below. Players take turns, going clockwise around the board, and the round ends when all players have returned to the submarine, or if the air runs out at the beginning of someone's turn. 1) Declare if you will turn back or not. 2) Reduce air. 3) Roll the dice and advance your game piece. 4) Search. (When you have stopped moving, select one of A-C below) A) Do nothing. B) Pick up ruins chip. C) Place a ruins chip.

  • Players 2-6
  • Playing time 30 mins
  • Ages 8+

Just as a warning I owned this a while back and thought it would be right up my street. It went down like s lead balloon. On the flip side, similar mechanics, Incan Gold (Diamant) has gone down amazingly with every group I've played it with

Really? Most people I know who have it think it's great (albeit simple and more for younger players). What was it that didn't gel for you? Was thinking of getting it to play with oldest so would like to know you opinion
I got this recently, and loved it.

Simple mechanics, but it's part co-op and part solo, and that the best bit of it.

Play greedy and sink the others? Let me think..

I don't really know tbh, the push your luck just didn't work for us, and (counter to what you're suggesting about young people) we found the rules a little more nuanced than needed.
Same group loved Incan Gold as I say and didn't need both in my collection, so it's one of only a handful of games I've sold

I know it's well thought of (tho I did hear one of the major review sites slating it recently, possibly in a podcast just can't remember which), so don't think I'm alone

Fair enough, I'll have to watch a few more playthroughs I think.
Thanks

Hope you enjoy it!
I find it a great game to get out for a quick blast at the end of a couple of long heavy games, we have Incan Gold (Diamant) too, I have found that my kids prefer Incan Gold but all of my mates prefer Deep Sea.
It's alright, very very random, and easy to introduce new players. However for short small portable games something like Red 7 is better IMO.
Seemed like a good game, but once start playing it, you get one cowards or evil people diving back up early. Everyone else who dives deep dies. Very soon no one dives deep or tries which kinda ruins the game.

The push your luck element can be dictated by a single player, which makes it much less fun for everyone else.

Narabi and Railway Ink both went down well with my group recently if anyone's on the lookout for other lite games

It's designed that way, if you get players like that in the group you can always just grab two really close ones and head back while they are still facing the wrong way, it's part of the fun giving the gready player who kills the entire group trying to carry too much treasure some stick

Can see how not everyone would like it but it is supposed to be like that. In a lot of other push your luck games your decisions don't really affect the other players so much I guess.

100% spot on. We (adult group) played it a while back, 4 or 5 times; the first couple of games everyone went deep and we all drowned, after that no one went more than half way... I can't explain it better than it just wasn't 'fun'. But yeah seems to be well liked by others so horses for courses. The copy we played was from Newcastle Central library - great way to try games!
