I used these amazon.co.uk/Nyl…878 to attach the heatsink as the spacing of the holes on the card is about 1mm different to the cooler and metal bolts would be a struggle to fit. These nylon ones bend just enough to get it to fit snuggly.

Would you not need to cool them with a fan still or do you let it just do it passively . Cool mod which you did to your GPU. Heat added.

I have a few case fans which blow air in the direction of the GPU and the VRMs get to about 85c after 15 minutes of Heaven benchmark, apparently they are ok up to 125c

Oh that's good then. Gosh did not know that the VRMs could get so hot. Thanks

so you get two fans in the pack for push/pull config?

I bought the 240t version from the ebuyer deal a few weeks ago for 34.99, super quiet, great cooler

Have you thought about using a kraken g10 to blow some air on your vrm's?. Waiting for parts to arrive before i aio cool my g1 390x.

Great price so heat added

Would I be able to put this on my GTX 970 in a Dell XPS 8700?

Hmm , well if your talking about the one I bought maelstorm 240t , which is different to the one that has been posted , then I would say No , I mounted mine to the top of my case .

It's not listed on a compatibility list for the:

NZXT Kraken G10
Corsair HG10 N970

So nope.

Which 970 do you have? Mine runs super cool anyway so I would be surprised if you needed to

Isn't compatable any way, so a waste of time asking those questions.

I am fairly sure you can buy a Watercooler bracket for most graphics cards , I think Kraken do one

As I said before and in the earlier post in this thread, the brackets you can buy aren't compatible with this cooler!

These are not cheap unknown brands ??? Ever heard of FrostyTech ?!?!?! He likes em and he knows what he is talking about Deepcool is a good brand , they are just releasing the Captain range I believe it is called !!!! frostytech.com/

Would this be quiter than an air cooler? its about the same price and might be willing to give it a try for this price .....
vs zalman cpns90x? on a 2500k (which will not o'clock one iota !)

This any good for those who don't overclock?

I've got one of these in my PC and it's great. Got it last time they were cheap and I had some Amazon credit.

Mine had smooth pipes too, not the ridged ones. EDIT: Seems like mine is the Maelstrom 120, not 120k.

I have bought it for same price earlier this month from ebuyer.
the only downside is loud fans. definitely upgrade to noctua

Just ordered a RX 480 8gb reference model from the Amazon Warehouse deal. Thinking of tagging on an affordable cooler onto it but am wary about the efforts involved. Anyone done it before that can give advice?

Edit: Just realised the OP modded this cooler onto the 480 so it's probably not classed as an 'easy' job ;p

You'll need some of these:
amazon.co.uk/gp/…878
amazon.co.uk/Cop…76I
but it's relatively simple to fit have a look at this to see what's involved:
youtube.com/wat…OsM

I actually ended up putting the maelstrom on an R9 290 and using a Seidon 120v2 on my RX480 fastened with zip ties, but the Maelstrom is much easier to fit as the screw holes more or less line up perfectly with the holes on the reference RX480 (that's why I used nylon bolts as they have to bend ever so slightly.
