It's not going to be everyones cup of tea but I like it.
Ok it's running vista but it's not that bad.
Other options available are H/D upgrade, RAM, Wireless and Bluetooth if you fancy and you can reduce the price to £349 if you choose the cheap celeron processor.

£389 for a decent 17" Dell, good for all round performance, nothing special and defo not for gaming.
I think it is a good price for Dell quality and 17" screen

Late last year, November I think, a 17" Dell Inspiron 17 was posted here from Carphone Warehouse at £329 (I nearly bought one).

That had a Pentium Dual Core T4200 and Vista Home Premium.

hotukdeals.com/ite…re-

I know that deal is no longer available (but the cheeky so and so's on Carphone Warehouse still have it listed), but I dont think this deal, with a Celeron, and Vista Home Basic, for £349, is that good a deal.

I think this is too late for the Windows 7 upgrade offer as well.

Seems like a good price. I personally am a Mac man, but this would be good with Windows 7.

Heat added anyways :-)

...and a bigger hdd and more ram...

sorry, cold

Sorry, but I too have to agree....

This is the place to see all current Dell deals at a glance/comparison dmxdimension.com/del…ns/ [Inspiron 17 in this instance]

tempted with the inspirion for my sister but she is not keen on the flat button keyboard design. The one she say at pcworld had keys missing. She wants the studio model. Any good offers on those?

Any laptop that comes with an Intel Graphics set needs to be carefully considered.
Only very low price, or limited use fits these models.

They are useful for office work, some multimedia, and internet useage.
They are not fit for games.
As such, when buying, never pay over the odds on machines like this.
Additional cpu, ram, or disk may depending on use be applicable, but the lack of decent GFX cannot be fixed later, and should be born out at purchase time.

Google for Dell Outlet
Search for the 'Home' option

Select Inspiron notebooks.
If the models there only offer Intel intergrated GFX, then only consider if the price is 'bargain' level.

If you see a model with ATI gfx at a good price, then its worth checking out a review on the web, then due consideration.
