Seems like a good price, could be about £200 delivered with QuidCo.

Has anybody got any experience with these? They look like great monitors, and the price seems good.

Could save me a little on a LCD TV, as it has HDMI, so I could use a PS3 with it too.

Ooh I mean about £210 delivered. My maths is dire.

It has an HDMI input but doesn't appear to have any speakers so any audio from the ps3 would need to come through the optical out.

Anyone own one of these? Any good?

I am not quite sure why its been voted cold. I have just had a quick scan through dabs and its not particular much more expensive than the Samsung 22" which seems popular.

Can people explain why it's cold? Is it because its expensive or crap?

I have found in the past Dell monitors are pretty damn good.

all dell monitors have a connection to attach a soundbar underneath ..... tend to cost £10-15 on ebay ....
very good too ...

If you look in this picture:

you will see a green audio jack. Would this be to link to your computers sound card, a soundbar (as zoopakev mentions) or just a headphone jack?

The more expensive but plain vanilla 22" Dell E228WFP is a pdg monitor, this one may have sacrificed quality for "features" like the webcam and HDMI.

Thanks for the ebuyer link to that.

I don't see why they should have sacrificed quality of the screen for the webcam and HDMI - neither of those are going to be particular expensive to include.

This screen is normally about £250 which would make it more than the one on Ebuyer.

Thanks for your comments.

The E228WFP model is "normally" about £296 according to ]Dell. They currently have it at £234 delivered (£223 at ebuyer), more than the new webcam/hdmi model. Search doesn't find me a review of the SP2208WFP, just forum comments that it uses the cheaper TN panel (in common with most other budget monitors aimed at gamers).

Thanks for your input. The grown up version of this screen is actually £292 on Dell at the moment, I guess they increased it after you posted it.

I may take a look into that from Ebuyer - if anything I prefer it as its black, never mind that it has a better screen - though this obviously plays a part.

I thought Ebuyer did Quidco... but it seems not. Wonder if dabs sell Dell screens...

Thanks for your help - after looking around on the Internet and taking into account your comments, I have gone for the E228WFP from ]Overclockers for £216 delivered. That doesn't seem like a bad buy.

I see that the newer, HDMI enabled SP2208WFP monitor has a 2000:1 contrast ratio as opposed to only 800:1 on the older E228WFP. Does this not make a big difference? As 800:1 sounded pretty poor to me.

Thanks

E228WFP which I believe is the value range from Dell uses a TN panel or I sure hope so as I own one (got the E4500 vostro and screen deal for £387 posted Dec07 by MikeT - TVM :)) and it changes (inverts) colours as you move well off axis. Not a big deal as I use it for PC Work as have HD-Ready Projector for gaming.

In comparision, the Samsung 940MW which I also own doesn't change colour no matter how extreme an angle you look at it.
