would anyone care to speculate how this compares to other monitors for similar money, for example:

I'm after one for image editing mostly. You can't really go on the specs as it's mostly about how they've chosen to measure them than anything else, but other makes do seem to offer more for your money.

I brought my friend the Dell ST2310 23" for £143.66 delivered from Dell, plus 10% Quidco so £130.

I have found the user reviews on the Dell website to be a fair reflection of customer satisfaction. The ones scoring over 4.5 tend to be excellent value when on special offer. Beware limited features on cheaper monitors (ie no USB, no speaker connection, fixed height stand and above all screen defintion

What exactly is the difference between these two? They both seem good value!

I went for the ST2310 because it has the HDMI port with HDCP so you can watch blu rays on it and it has a lower power consumption (22w compared to 29w). it also has a 50000:1 Contrast ratio so you get better black and whites.
