I’ve purchased this a couple of years ago. What settings do other people use for playing on ps5? I enjoy playing he’ll let loose but struggle with the contrast and have to tweet game and monitor settings.

Make sure you have your RGB range set to full on your PS5, if you're using a monitor. Don't use any of the preset visual modes on monitors - they are almost always jank

Use this site to help with visual calibration, if you can hook it up to a PC

If you're not Gaming on it, I'll find a cheaper QHD display instead for your office.

    okay monitor. Nothing special tbh.....

Agreed. Not too sure why it's getting this much heat. I'm probably missing something

Great monitor but as all IPS panels, this suffers from IPS glow in darker scenes. I had to play with settings quite a lot and get the positioning spot on to not notice this. All it takes really is to look at a slight angle or sit slightly lower/higher than normally and it can get pretty bad, especially if you're watching a movie with a lot of darker scenes. When I do try, I find that I very quickly decide to go downstairs and watch it on the TV instead. (edited)

Genuine question from the ignorant here - why are gaming monitors not universally 4K by now whenever TVs are? And how come people still talk about how much better PC graphics are when the monitors don't match up?
    Funnycatmeme's avatar
As Hyperflow says. Also, when it comes to gaming, you want to be using the native resolution of the monitor for gaming so the picture is as sharp as possible. The graphics cards required to run a display at 4K at 60Hz(fps) with settings turned up are very expensive - the minimum price right now for a good 4K GPU would be a 3080 for £600 on a sale. You would also need a CPU to match the GPU so it isn't bottlenecked.

Most people who want better than a 1080p experience move to 1440p. It gives you better detail and your GPU can still push higher frame rates than you would get on a console - in the case of this monitor you can get 165fps @1440p. You can still access much better levels of detail than you can get on a console version of the same game, and with a 27" display you get the benefit of higher pixel density which makes the display look more detailed and photorealistic. Also, if you can't get as high as 165fps (most systems won't all the time) then the freesync/gsync will make sure the picture has no screen tearing and feels responsive. I have games that sit between 90-120fps depending on what they are rendering and it just feels very solid (newer consoles have this if you have a VRR TV to utilise it but in most games this is to keep it feeling smooth when the framerate drops below the maximum of 60fps - there are some 120fps games out there on console but they lose detail to reach 120).

I have a PC with a 3060ti @ 1440p and a series X on a 4K TV. I enjoy both but the benefits of a PC go beyond matching the 4K output from a console - some games on console will render in a lower resolution then upscale to 4K or limit the framerate on the higher detail mode - Hogwarts legacy does this with a 30fps framerate cap on the ray traced fidelity mode. On PC you can run that mode at a higher FPS with a higher level of detail at 1440p. (edited)

Not directly relevant to the post however which one is better ips or va panels for 4k 120hz on ps5
    James_Harking's avatar
IPS if you are not sitting directly in front of the screen and move around a little. VA if you want a better contrast ratio, however be aware of VA smear.
  10. mikat's avatar
Currently using the ICC profile from this YouTube review (
). Had to slightly turn down the brightness and contrast to around 59 from 75. Looks pretty good to me. (edited)
    flapmio's avatar
Thanks, will try this. Did you change the monitor settings themselves as well e.g. warm, cold etc?
  11. Funnycatmeme's avatar
Yes it's worth checking out. It's a VA panel so the pixel response time is slower than this IPS monitor (the motion handling isn't as good compared to IPS) and it isn't officially "G-Sync compatible" but it will work with G-Sync. It's very similar to my 3220DGF VA dell panel. The pixel density of a 32" monitor @ 1440p is the same as a 24" monitor @ 1080p. I like it but some people prefer 1440p 27" for the higher pixel density and perception of improved detail.

    Abc_defg100's avatar
    Absolutely fine, just unnecessarily expensive/overkill
  13. twahid's avatar
Anyone buying this for Ps5 then you won't get 120fps as you need hdmi 2.1 ports which this monitor does not have. I'm now selling mine, unless anyone know a way around? Apart from that, it's a decent monitor. (edited)

This is my PS5 hooked up to this Dell monitor using HDMI 2.0 and supporting 120Hz.

I have 4 of these (2 for each PC) and they are phenomenal screens for the price.

I use mine mostly for video and photo editing. For anyone else wanting to do the same, it's probably worth mentioning that while the factory calibration is fairly OK for single screen use, you'll probably need to manually tweak things a little to get a matching pair of screens performing identically to each other. Also, you'll probably want to turn off HDR if using it for desktop application work, as the adaptive brightness introduces a level of variability you won't really want for editing.

With HDR switched off and the screens manually calibrated, these screens are insanely good for what you're paying.

Monitors of this spec often go to £200 or even lower occasionally. Granted this is probably better colours, but I'm surprised this deal is hot, let alone 1400 (edited)

Bought the 32" G3223D on Black Friday for £30 more - replaced under warranty for a single dead pixel (upper right corner), not the biggest issue, but may as well make use of the Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee.

    Absolutely stunning screen, 165hz, G-Sync & USB-C capable.

If you can stretch a little further, it's well worth the extra money.

What's the difference between their normal monitors and their gaming monitors? Just response rate?
    louiearch9309's avatar
Generally yes response and refresh rate. Plus gaming monitors have extra settings that compliment gaming too.

I did a series of Videos comparing this to the MSI .. both a great monitors. I stuck with the MSI as it was more richer in colour but the Dell is also very nice!

Just to give a bit of balance to the positive comments so far, I bought this monitor a couple of years ago when it was on sale for £275.

The quality is amazing, lots of ports, great size, and so on, but this gave me horrible eye strain. I played around with the settings and also calibrated it with that website mentioned earlier but every time I used it, within minutes, I'd get a horrible headache because my eyes were hurting. In the end, I returned it and went back to an old 1080p monitor. I mean, it could've just been my eyes, I'll admit that, but this has never happened to me before with any screen. Hard to describe just how immediate the eye strain was.
    flapmio's avatar
I'm getting this as well! The light bleed is crazy. I only use it for office work

Does this support the weird Xbox 1440 @ 120Hz mode?

Yes as long as the game supports it
  33. corey1993's avatar
thank you! i had a great 1080p monitor that i found here a couple month ago. dont get me wrong, its great but because i have a dual monitor set up - having a 1440p monitor and 1080p monitor isnt that best. so i wanted to get the exact same monitor i had for the 1440p monitor but have just been waiting for it to get at a more reasonable price.
  34. dioxyde0's avatar
hey guys, I already have this monitor but I want to get a 2nd one for work for dual monitor set up. should i get the 60hz version or would it be annoying af on the eyes? i dunno if i should pay gaming monitor price if I'm not gonna be doing any gaming on one of them. has anyone got any experience with multi monitor set ups?
    HyperFlow's avatar
You could put them both in 60hz mode. Different refresh rates across screens would be jarring, as would different resolutions. Also a different monitor could have different colour balancing, guess you have to decide whether this would bother you or not.

Work gave me two of these, for the cost they're pretty good I think. You could spend more on less of a monitor I think.

I'm I right for saying that this monitor is not good for PS5?

Ie 4k at 60fps. Even though ps5 has QHD support but not VRR.

So its best to get 1080p monitor or 4k monitor that does 120fps and vrr enabled.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Ta

Hello. Is this monitor bad for fortnite and competitive gaming ? Just wondering if someone moved from 1080 high refresh rate monitor to this Del and needed to up the GPU for consistent FPS? Looking for a reason to stick to my old 1080 24 inch monitor (edited)
    Una's avatar
1080p with high HZ and smaller screen (ideally 24inch) is still the best for competitive games, or so I've read atleast
