Anyone have this? Any good? I've been iffing and arring about a monitor of this size or something a little more modest like 27''. I feel like a monitor this size, you need to be a couple of feet away to really use properly; too close and your head is constantly moving.

Then again I have no idea. I want a monitor for gaming, but also productivity use.

SOMEONE DECIDE FOR ME THIS ONE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.

I've already got a 32" inch monitor and a 27" inch one, I'm sat at the same distance away as when I had my 27" as the main display and it's perfectly fine. I'd say go for it, you'll soon be used to it and glad you didn't get a 27".
every aspect of the Dell is perfect for me, except the curve. I use my monitor for CAD and photoshop work. Seeing straight line being straight is important to me. I am skeptical if the curve would cause any trouble for my usage.

trouble is, specs are a bit lousy for gaming and for productivity. It offers high refresh rates but ghosting will be an issue. No G-SYNC and the colour reproduction and resolution let it down for productivity usage.

Probably better off spending more and getting something that does at least one of those things really well

It's on the gsync supported list now apparently.
Refresh is quite subjective, it depends how they measure it.
Fantastic deal...but a whopping 7 week lead time!

That's alright, I've been self isolated for 6 weeks. Another 7 will fly by!
I prefered OLED

It depends what they mean by productivity (what's their job, are they a designer or just using it for home use) and the colour reproduction seems pretty good, what are you basing that on?

e.g. on the colours, Rtings say

* "thanks to its wide color gamut and decent HDR peak brightness it can display HDR content with vivid colors and highlights that pop."
* "The pre-calibration color accuracy of the S3220DGF is decent. Most enthusiasts will spot some inaccuracies in both the grays and the colors"
* "The Dell S3220DGF has remarkable accuracy after calibration. Most inaccuracies are corrected, and even enthusiasts won't be able to spot any remaining ones, except maybe in the blues".

And the resolution seems fine, it's not 4k but wouldn't expect many people to be gaming at 4k on a 144hz monitor anyway.

absolutely does depend on what they mean by productivity, I jumped straight into content creation when I read productivity but it could also mean office work.

no SRGB and no Gamma presets mean it wouldn't be great for photo or video work if you're a pro.
1440p is adequate for gaming but again if it's content creation, the vertical resolution of 4k would give you much more real estate on the screen.

My opinion would be either go for a gaming first monitor or a productivity first monitor if you are serious about any of those. If you want something generic that is ok at everything then this would suit you fine especially if it now has G-Sync?

Also consider it doesn't have USB-C which is the new defacto connector type on portable devices which you may consider connecting in the future.

Fair enough, it probably isn't one for a professional doing photo/video editing

I don't know if it does have G-Sync, it's marketed as Freesync.I know NVIDIA were making some of these compatible but not sure if this is one of them or not.

And you're right, doesn't look as though it has USB-C which might be a consideration for som.
Cheers for this. Just purchased. Now i have to figure out what to with my 240hz monitor
isabelladavies08/04/2020 13:30

I prefered OLED

Can you point us to one at this price/size that is good for gaming?
I’m holding out for 34”, then the height is squashed for width
Looks really good but slightly hesitant to order one as other deals could pop-up between now and June.
Decisions, decisions.
Why they always curved ffs
This is a great deal. Ordered. Was looking for a monitor. This seems perfect. Never had a curved one before...

OLED very expensive as today need to drop for mass market

Its not listed on the official Nvidia list.

I know that. That's why I asked for an example in similar price range. Just saying that you prefer OLED adds nothing. I prefer that too. So what? It's like looking at cars in Golf price range and saying you prefer Aston Martin.
Thanks op. I've been waiting for a deal on this monitor for a while now. Ordered one as 300 for this is a steal.
Great deal, jumped on this. I needed a monitor that I could use for work as well as the occasional gaming. This fits the bill perfectly!

It's not officially G-Sync compatible, but it still works perfectly fine.
As someone who actually owns this monitor, it's a great monitor, don't listen to idiots who don't know what they're on about. £300 is a steal. Shame the delivery time is horrendous.
Purchased, great price.

My understanding is this monitor has freesync. On rtx cards Nvidia introduced several levels of gsync support and the basic one is basically support for freesync. It doesn't have some of the fireworks that "proper" gsync certified screen have but it works.
£450 on site now
This monitor stutters like mad for freesync games. Absolutely useless gaming monitor for Amd users, not to mention dark ghosting issues.

You using a 5700xt?
Is code SFHMON15 supposed to still work for other monitors on dell website?

Yeah it's nice. Only using for work at moment, but I have a 34" at work so it's nice to have a proper monitor after 12weeks at home!
Will try out some gaming tonight!
