personal note: Thank you for the overwhelming support and especially to those actively replying to other enquiries, without you all this is impossible, as this post is approaching 4-digi-degree heat! I would also like to say, although one might be able to profiteer from this deal (by selling on the excess to the rest of the nation unknown to HUKD), I much prefer we could help anyone you know, friends, extended family to upgrade their old printers (or give them a new printer if they don't have one). How good it feels helping someone a new printer and know the old printer is environmentally friendly processed and being paid a little from Dell and ebuyer. I have setup a FS/FT post for people wanting to give away the Ricoh toners leftover after their trade-in. Thanks for your kind attention.

Early this week I received an email from PayPal marketing offering me 5% cashback upto £1k spend until 30/06, perhaps I was inactive for a long time. I think this offer is account specific.

Apparently this has been around at least since 29/04/2013 as this is when the offer started. Some MSE members also received this offer.

Having spoken to them, the 6kg clause is there because the prepay postage will cover upto that weight, over you will have to top-up.

I have a old hp inkjet. Can i trade that in for this?

It's a laser printer, with duplex, with network.

I think so, as they are asking is a working printer with power supply. I am going to trade my 10yr inkjet too.

Most people won't qualify for this particular cashback so it should be clarified in your post.

Seems like a very good deal, but I think it should be any working LASER printer

Thank you for your comment. I have considered this as I was posting, so the headline is quoting the full price with the redemptions as extras and the Quidco cashback as potential discount.

I added the PayPal 5% cashback as the detail description to inform those also have this offer can benefit further. I think there is no misleading, though I have added extra explanation as per your comment. Kind regards.

The trade in looks to be specific models of Dell Laser printer and only certain models get the full £100.

See here. Lots of points clarified, if indeed it's the same printer and two cashback deals.

hotukdeals.com/dea…086

Dell printers, especially this one are rubbish. Replacement toner is as much as the printer.
Lots of errors and problems with them.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!

They used to be made by Samsung and toners were for nothing, a quick google suggests a 14,000 page capacity for a full toner and they're refillable, assuming the one it ships with is 25% full that's still 3,500 pages before you have to refill on a printer that potentially cost you nothing and will have a reasonable re-sale value.

I am using it at home, so really can't comment of how frequent it needs to replace the consumable in the industrial scale. The laser printer I have since 2001 is still working fine, only replaced the toner once a year ago (10yrs of use), which quoted for 6.5k pages. The photodrum is still good.

I think for home users, laser printers are definitely cheap on consumable.

It's not 6kg either. The printout at the end of the claim form says 31kg and I posted a laser using the prepay printout this morning which was over 6kg and didn't have to pay extra.

There is no stipulation as to the age of the printer you return either. I was going to send my old hp laser jet 1200 but sent the new Ricoh that came with the previous offer for £200

Just of interest, why didn't you send the old HP, but sent the new Ricoh?

I bought one of the last ones of these last week. I'm agonising over which bit of kit to send back...

1) Epson 480SX. This would be too old and crappy wouldn't it? I think it works OK but it's missing the tray feed bits of plastic and frankly it was just waiting to be put in the trash.

2) Canon i250. This was a nice little printer in its day, but I've not used it for a while either. Should be fine and it's complete.

3) Samsung ML-1210. In perfect working order and is my current laser hack.

I'd rather not send the Ricoh back in all honesty -- seems a shame to trade in a brand-new printer.

Can anyone see any problems with sending (1) or (2) to them, or should I just let go of the Samsung?

Honestly, if both function fine, I see no problem into meeting the trade-in requirements. Of course, if you are unsure you can call the Dell Trade to Save to confirm.

I would send the one that has the least alternative cash value and has the least functions.

Thanks, much appreciated

Apart from some minor intermittent clogging of the print head, the Canon is fine. The Epson, as it turns out, doesn't even have a W7 driver, is making some funny noises and has bits missing. Out to the dump it goes!

I'll clean the Canon up and send it out

I see a problem with all of them, chuck them all in the bin.;)

To be fair the Samsung isn't a bad printer...

To clarify some points I emailed the trade ins
1. Can be any printer but must be working
2. Should be less than 20kg not 6kg if over then you pay post
3. Didn't want the toner cartridge so don't know how they check 1.

Has anyone ordered one of these already?

If so, does it come with a full toner cartridge?

ordered one I hope a get all my cash back

How to check that?

Ebuyer info incorrect - mine came with P976R Standard Toner Cartridge - 7000 pages. Which is what Dell does state on their website.

hotdealseeker

Just of interest, why didn't you send the old HP, but sent the new Ricoh?

A number of reasons. The Ricoh is a cheap gdi printer, was already boxed and I didn't have the box for the HP. The Ricoh refills are also something like £50 for 1500 pages compared to less than £20 for 3500 if buying a small cheap compatible for the HP.
The Ricoh is also 1200x600dpi while the HP is 1200x1200 dpi iirc.

Has anyone had receipt of their trade in confirmed yet? They've had mine a couple of days now but I haven't heard anything from them yet and there is no way to log in and track the status of your trade in.

I just received my printer and went to the Dell website to register for the cashback and the page is not found? Anyone got a working link?

Thanks - filled the Dell cashback form in now using the above link.

It's a shame the power switch is at the rear rather the side - it's a bit awkward to reach.

UPDATE: Idle power consumption is 8W.

Mine has turned up too, looks like a 7000 page toner in it, thats what the device settings page says too.
Filled in the cashback and trade in pages, just wait now I guess.
Only thing I have noticed is that the rollers are quite noisy when turning, much noisier than my other laser.
Edited by: "thespiderpig" 1st Jun 2013

It's silent when not printing though which is better than my old laser which used to hum away for a while before going into standby mode.

hi, whats the footprint on this, need to replace a Samsung ML-1510, and tight for space on the desk..

Cheers
