Use the code DO7212 for 12% of the price.

I managed to grab the same model but with

16GB DDR4
512GB M.2

for £1300 which is a saving of over £700 from the brand new price listed on Dell.

Wow - they are all OOS. That was fast...8 minutes.

Still in stock 4 me

Can't see any

Let me purchase one but no money has yet been taken and I'm a bit dubious if there were actually any left at that point.
No confirmation e-mail or anything.

Have some heat regardless.

Weirdly enough...I don't have a confirmation email either or an order in my Dell account.

OR the money taken. WTF?

But...just had an email from Quidco confirming the £13 has tracked for the payment.

Give it a few mins. I had one in my basket which then wouldn't let me purchase [OOS] and then 2 minutes later it was available.

I can't see why this is a good deal for refurb

It is a saving of 12% of the normal price plus the saving on top of being a refurbished model from a 2017 laptop with a 6GB 1060 GPU and an i7 and 12 months support from Dell. How much are you expecting to pay?

They aren’t really refurbs. They are customer returns and cancelled orders, most completely unused, which are subject to the same as-new warranty.

Some people want a intel atom and some people want one of these. Just don’t expect to pay the same for both. Even if it’s a refurb it’s a steal, dell refurbs are generally top notch.

I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about. Show me a 17 inch i7 with a 1060 6GB GPU (and SSD&HDD) brand new for anything close to this price. Are you mental?
8GB RAM is easily doubled.

Cant see anything. Everyone have the same?

Is this a good price compared to getting brand new??

It's a saving of around £480-650 depending on the purchase and current deals. Dell part picker puts this around £1650 and Amazon has it around the same. Without the 12% it would just be a good deal but with the saving it is a pretty great one for the GPU and processor.

I’ll keep trying then. Cheers!

Is there VAT added on when purchasing or is the £1152 total price?

That includes VAT so if you can reclaim then it is an even greater saving. For the next model up (if Dell honour my order) I think I paid/will reclaim around 230 in VAT.

Bigger SSD, 16GB ram, brand new and £20 cheaper. Also, i'm not mentally impaired.

You are correct that the medion is a better specced laptop and is cheaper but I think the deal here is that you cannot get this laptop for this price unless you buy refurbed and with the code. Imagine a razer laptop with the same spec with an RRP of £2500-odd being reduced down to £1500; yes the medion would be cheaper but the razer would still be a deal because it is the cheapest way of getting that particular laptop not just the spec. If we were just looking at the spec then you could say a desktop or even better a custom build would be cheaper. People are looking for the brand (alienware), build quality, trust in the QC, and the amazing reviews for this laptop as well as price.

Don't get me wrong, this Dell deal is a huge saving, and thoroughly deserves its spot here in HUKD.

My reply was to OP's ridiculous, demeaning comment that said that these specs couldn't be found anywhere close to this price point. And voila, I met it with a suitable response.

Nah. I don't believe that price. I saw it. I read it. I reject it. Something is off. That is not close to the price on the manufacturer direct.

So, rejected.

PS - consider yourself still demeaned.

Just beware guys, the Alienware brand isn't what it was.
I bought one of these from the Dell outlet a while back (the R3 model). I ended up with 4 new mother boards, 2 new screens and a 8 (yes, ) visits from an engineer.
Dell support is a nightmare to deal with, they will only move forward if you reinstall windows every time you call, even if you're calling because you have just done that and the laptop doesn't work! I had to call them for over 22 hours in the end.

It is working now, but only because they swapped the whole unit out (twice)...

1 Back in stock.

Bare in mind there was a good number of complaints for these models on launch due to overheating as they moved to a 3 pin heatsink which left a lot of systems seeing 99C plus on 2 of the 4 cores while others sat at 70-80.

Some repasted the heatsinks and got VERY good results , others kept returning until they got a decent laptop.

Worth stress testing on arrival to check for this

Great tip. Thank you.

Also for those who slate Dell, the Alienware team are different and were extremely active on the Reddit group to work with those who were having problems to get the issues identified and sorted. They understand it is a premium brand and appeared to listen and work with those who were dissecting their products to help fix what was an issue that affected ~1% of users.

E-mailed them but then gave them a ring not long after to get a response.

The person on the phone didn't acknowledge any sort of problem with their systems and said that if the order hadn't appeared on my account within the next few hours just presume it hadn't gone through as she couldn't find it on her system.

Woke up to a response to the e-mail today saying they acknowledged that there was some 'ordering errors on their system' and that these should be cleared up within 24-48 hours.

Should've learnt my lesson really. When I ordered from Dell about 8 year ago they pushed my system back about 3 different times when I was waiting for it to do uni work on, wasn't ideal.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! As soon as I started writing this I got an order acknowledgement e-mail so god knows whats going on?!
