Damn! I was just about to buy the Acer 5102WLMi from Comet!

Mike, I need you advice, but I think I already know what your answer is going to be.

The Dell or the Acer?

TIA

PS What's the difference betwee the 1390 and 1490 (Dual Band) Wireless cards?

I thought you already had a Acer cutthroat?....if you cannot wait until Vista loaded laptops hit the market then it's a case of capacity...if I'm correct the Acer has a 120gb hdd and more ram...but someone on here said the Acer short battery life is a pain.

I'm definately waiting until Vista becomes a reality.

Nope, no Acer CC, I've got a Dr. Frankenstein Toshiba that has been upgraded so may times it's schizophrenic!

The Acer / Dell is a Chrissy pressie for my neice so it has to be bought soon.

She won't be bothered about a big HDD and more RAM, and the only Vista she'll have heard of is the "Hasta La" one in Terminator!

Thanks for the advice nonetheless.

New Dell updates tomorrow morning, so you might want to wait until then before you decide

I am getting ready to make the plunge on a Vista laptop. However I have heard some advice that for Vista Premium to run well you will need a hybrid hard drive with a flash component. Should I just be patient and wait until Vista installed laptops come out? i'm hoping to get a Core 2 Duo, 256Meg GPU, 2 Gig Ram, Vista laptop for about £5-600. Was close to getting the Dell MikeT posted last week.
Any thoughts about these hybrid hard drives?

Here is a cnet link about them. Available next year on laptops.

It says £44 in the Post Title! I nearly wet myself!

£44 for a LAPTOP WITH THAT SPEC, £44 for A LAPTOP AT ALL!!

Please make sure post titles are correct, for my own sanity!
