If you add something to the config above to bring the pre vat price to over £299 then delivery is free saving £60.
For example I did a £70 cpu upgrade and the final delivered price was £351

I like big screens. With the CPU upgrade is this a good deal, daughter looking for one.

nice price ordered one and the free delivery made it even more attractive cheers

MikeT, do you know if there will be any good 14/15'' cheap Dell deals soon?

i personally dont think it is a great model..... 17" is a bit too big.... only suitable as a desktop replacement

My wife bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, I was so impressed I sold my laptop and bought one! Absolute bargain for this price.

I have a V1700 too, good value for money sturdy notebook, most buying 17" will not be trying to carry them around all day though.

1GB RAM and integrated graphics will make doing 3D stuff pretty hard work.

Hi MikeT, there was a post you done back in December for a 1721 Inspiron Dell model laptop with 320GB HD which I bought for about £450 if you can remember. This is just a query I wanted to ask regarding this maybe you or some of the other people in here can help me in. I went through Quidco before purchasing the 1721, I paid for it and got it delivered by end of January. To this day the 5% cashback from dell has not been added on my quidco account. It doesn't even show up as pending. I wanted to know if this is a common occurence when dell don't apply the quidco discount for some reason. Nevertheless, can I still claim it back and how do I go about doing it. Quidco doesn't explain clearly what to do in situations like this in their T &C.
Thanks in advance.

You need to contact Quidco for this, put in an earnings enquiry on their website.

Just to update this deal if anyones looking for a reasonably priced capable 17" notebook.

Add the 256meg Graphics card and it will cost £386 delivered. This is the spec I would buy if I needed one.

Add the 256meg Graphics and upgrade the ram to 2gig and its £428 though I would buy with the base memory and buy a 2gig strip for £20 from 7dayshop to give it the required boost.

Upgrade both the ram to 2 gig and hard drive to 160Gb and its £450 delivered.

You will be surprised how well the new Celeron cpu's work and with a good graphics solution your going to be able to play most of the latest games quite well too.

See my Vostro post in misc for more on how well the celerons do.
