I've been tracking the various Dell discounts over the last few weeks on gaming laptop sand this one is by far the best I've seen, they have rolled out the 144hz screen on the new G3 model, this model also comes with 16GB RAM and the new GTX 1660 Ti.

All in discount comes to about 16%

Really tempting, any downsides to this laptop?

I’ve been looking for a little while now, comparing the g series vs the nitros and omens. This the the first week I’ve seen them offer up the 144hz version on the g3 for the same price they were offering a 60hz g3 on deals earlier in August. My only query is over thermals, but I saw the new model of g3 has backward exhausts (previously only under laptop) which I think should help alot

I agree the G5 is a better deal for £1011 with the code. It has better cooling and the full 1660Ti instead of the Max-Q: dell.com/en-…525

Found a review to a similar model
The 1660 Ti is the Max Q version, quite a dip in performance tbh.

Only just, and the 1060 is over 3 years old, not impressive.

Some reviews still give it to the 1060 although personally i think you can do much more for your money than this if you are patient and check the usual Dell outlet /XSonly etc.I purchased an alienware 15 with GTX 1070 and 32GB ram with 2 year onsite warranty for less than this.Very happy with it.

Which site was this from? Sounds like a cracking deal, although I'm guessing it's not longer at that price?
Having bought the previous Dell G3 deal for £660ish minus cashback and what have you I would not want to spend a grand on it as the external build quality should be better. For example holding it one handed can sometimes flex the plastic bottom. And the air vents are pointed that when the screen is open the heat hits the screen. I mean it's nice in winter to warm your hands up but doesn't seem like a clever move in general along with the noise level.

Correct, they only get in very limited quantities with different spec sheet, all factory sealed from Dell.I just kept checking website over a 10 day period and got lucky. They also do the odd flash sale with extra discount off too.XSONLY

Thanks I'll keep looking. Is the 1070 better than the 1660 ti max q?

Yes it is but its very close call between normal full 1660ti and 1070 although extra vram on 1070 is deal breaker for some over 1660ti
