I received a mail today from Dell with this offer. I tried clicking the link but could not find the discounted priced anywhere on their site. To get the deal you just need to click the live chat button, say you saw a mail saying it was reduced from £1349 to £1188 and they will email you a quote at the discounted rate.

Specification as standard is:

  • Dell G5 15
  • 8th Gen 6 Core i7 (i7-8750H)
  • RTX 2060 6GB
  • 8GB DDR 2666
  • 128 GB NVMe SSD plus 1 TB 5400 Mech Drive
  • 15.6 1920x1080 IPS screen

Best price I have seen for a machine of this spec. Only things I would change would be to add some more SSD space at low cost.

I am seriously debating eBaying my R3 with a 1070 and buying this.

Deals open for 3 days according to the email.

Woah nice find! Heat added.

I wonder how is the heat management in this? And how the display is like?
As for rtx 2060, is that mobile or desktop version?

Uhmm hard to tell if it mobile version or the normal one. Ill do some research online. Thanks op
128GB SSD is a joke really in a gaming machine.
Very tempting, I am after a new laptop and was about to buy the 1070 Asus from Amazon for £1,400. I might have a look at some reviews online first, but heat added

Did a quick search, seems like it have overheating issues. I currently have asus laptop with gtx 1060, its quite a decent laptop but feel large at times due to its being 17 inches

Have you had alook at asus series? Currently the one im using have been great so far. Temps are mostly under 85 for it while gaming but like most laptop, fans are rlly loud during gaming.

Edit: its ASUS ROG Strix SCAR II GL704GM-EV001T

Was looking at the Asus ROG GL504GS that comes with a 1070 currently £1400 on Amazon.

Btw a Dell rep advised that Clock speed is 1680MHz, Memory speed is 14Gbps on this 2060.

I was looking at GL504GS aswell but at that time it was bit expensive. That's definitely a decent price. Apart from weak battery life, its a nice laptop

The RTX 2060 in this model is the non Max-q varient (I think all 2060s are like this). Also there will be a SKU with 144hz screen coming soon. It may be worth waiting for that one. Also the all metal G7 15 will be out in the near future too. Better cooling and build on that. Personally I would sacrifice the 2.5 inch drive and go for the 90 Whr battery in either G5 or G7
why go from 1070 to 2060? isn't the 1070 faster? Does anything take advantage of the new tech in the 20xx series yet? Personally I wouldn't be happy losing perofrmance

both have very similar performance, there is zero point to swap if you have gtx 1070 laptop already.
regarding this model, with 180w power supply this laptop will power throttle like there is no tomorrow

I thought the performance gap was higher but after checking some benchmarks it's not it worth me changing just for a better cpu.
