Never had a gaming laptop (or pc) but how loud are the fans when playing games? I wouldn't really be playing anything latest, and maybe at most 2017/8 unless it's not graphically intensive. Looking for something that doesnt really have that game-y look and this looks OK
And yet the g17 17.3" I posted went cold :/ hmmmm

Reviews say this model is very quiet. It's not an ultra thin laptop, so they can fit more heat pipes and larger fans in there I guess.
Seems good
Does anybody have experience of same laptop?
Would appreciate if someone could share their hands on experience
Cheers

The more I read about the issues online the more I worry but I feel like no one types up anything good about it all I hear are thermal issues and keyboard getting very got, fan gets very loud (which I do expect but I'm not exactly going to play the latest greatest, just what I've missed)

Here's a review from TechRadar: techradar.com/rev…590

"Dell’s latest laptop delivers a killer combo of in-game frame rates, next-gen features, value and, well, game-changing battery life."

That review is for a different spec model

It's unlikely for any review to contain these exact specs, but it gives you a good impression of the general experience.

Same screen only bigger, and let's be honest, the G5 is hardly that portable as it's a heavy machine. - dell.com/en-uk/shop/gaming-and-games/dell-g7-17-gaming-laptop/spd/g-series-17-7790-laptop/cng7716/configurations

Yeah, I just think if you're splashing a grand on a laptop for gaming, you're as well getting the beefer spec and future proofing yourself for at least 18months.

A 2060 laptop will hold value as well so I'd be tempted to find the other £200 for a far smoother, more enjoyable experience.

£1550 for the 144hz display model though before discount. Why on earth their £1300 ish g17 isn't good enough for 144hz in their book with a better GPU is beyond me...

For £1450 Scan do their brand of laptop with these specs. (Plus the 2 free games from intel, total war three kingdoms, laptop bag and baseball cap).

Edit:
Gonna take a punt at the G17 with 144hz screen.
Comes down to £1394 with the 10% off so better than scan I guess since I don't need the extras (total war would have been nice but game offers are no reason to buy hardware).

bought a dell xps because it was their "top of the line" and fell apart in a few months. never buying dell again unless it's for a cheap business workstation.

Haha yeah on PC I'm currently playing fallout 2 and R6 siege (more fallout and older games) and running a 1080 and I7.

Pulled the trigger on this anyways likely still for older games, indie games and non gaming when I'm away with work (G17 that is with the 2060).

Did u go for the 144hz version?
Would you guys say go for the 144hz version or 38357778-bUejS.jpg38357778-uCfXf.jpg

Just looks like theres better discount.
144hz has 512ssd works out:
£1550 -10% NUS -6% TCB= £1311.
Non 144hz has 256mb ssd and 1tb hdd and works out:
£1500 -£180 -10% NUS -6% TCB = £1116
