Cold as it was this price with the code back in October....also for this price point you’d expect 16gb ram and RTX2060...
Why only 8gb of ram? So stupid

True... I was trying to configue this, but there is not an option to do it...
Not an expert but 6 core cpu is great compared to other 4 cores I see, 9th gen i7 cant be bad.

Gtx 1660ti is a mid to high range gpu will run decent for most things and 8GB is decent... most people say 16gb is a bit better for modern games and to future proof. Not sure if its upgradeable

256gb ssd is decent and 1tb hdd would like 512gb ssd tbh and finally 144hz screen is really good for high fps games... nice OP thanks.
Student discount can bring it down to £989.. op decent extra discount of over £100 might be the biting point for some
Must. Resist. I'm waiting for 4800HS laptops to drop en masse

Most games ask for 8gb ram alone for triple A titles
How to apply Student discount?

@PcSpecialist You can configure a much better spec Clevo based laptop.
Check Amex. I have a £50 off > £750 at Dell offer
Use code DELL10LW04 to get an extra £109.90 off taking the price to £989.10
I have the 16GB RAM and RTX2060 version of this that has the same cpu. While a nice laptop the cpu cooling is poor and to run at reasonable temperatures I have had to use Throttlestop and undervolt the cpu and reduced the all core boost speed. I haven’t replaced the thermal paste but that’s the other recommendation when you look into this. Now I’m not complaining, I paid £930 from the Dell outlet for a spec beating this deal and was originally looking at lower specs laptops and knew what I was getting into.

I find most Dell laptops have poor cooling issues. I have a Dell XPS 15 9560 which isnt no slouch but heating issues persistent, probably due to the chassis and not enough cooling pipes? Who knows. Hopefully 2020 laptops are meant to be better upgrade cooling wise anyways.

Heat given to OP anyways 🏼

Do you know how cooking compares to something like a acer predator Helios or Lenovo y540 please?

Is there any software for adjusting the fan curve?

Is there any software for adjusting the fan curve?

Not that comes with it. However the fan ramps up really quickly to 100% so I don’t expect a fan curve to change much.

I don’t, I have no first hand experience of that model. I’d just be looking at the same reviews online.

Hopefully the new laptops support the latest AMD. The 4900h is matching the best Intel mobile CPU’s but at significantly less power and heat, they are really impressive from the reviews I have seen so far.

You wont find many decent brand laptops (new) with an RTX 2060 and 16gb ram for this price. Rcently got a Lenovo Legion Y740 with those specs for £1400 in a deal and that was at the lower end of the price range.
This is not a good deal - back in September I got a Dell G3 15 with the same processor, a GTX 1650, 8Gb RAM, a 128Gb Nvme and 1Tb Hard drive + 60Hz display for £560. There are some improvements with that laptop, but not double the price worth!

Keep looking!
use code DELL10LW04 for a further £109.90 off!
Think the 4000 series Ryzen's might have a knock on impact on pricing of the mid and higher end Intel-based laptops once they've had time to bed in to the market. I'd be going with one of the new AMD CPUs if I was looking to buy at this price point in the next few months.
Boys! I’ve got 1K max to spend on a gaming laptop. Needs to be spent wisely. Help me out in my time of need
This is an OK deal given the current market, but not the best deal out there. I've just ordered a laptop with the same processor, 16gb ram, same storage but 7200 HDD, and with a RTX2060 instead which along with the RAM are the main benefits, and that was for a grand.

Link?
I’ve checked some reviews. Apparently this laptop have some big thermal issues. Despite I posted the deal. I would not recommend
