Was torn between the HP Omen, one Omen had the 2060 graphics card with low processor, and the other had amazing processor with 1060 graphics card. This has both for £100 less.

The £300 is when you take up the finance on anything over £1000

£300 when taking the "finance" option. Only to pay it all in one lump sum the following day.
They wouldnt take my laptop for £200 because it was broken, but did the £300 finance option which
can be paid in full for no extra cost.

Shame it's not 16gb+512gb+2tb , but this is very tempting considering the 9th gen cpu.

I vowed to never buy Dell again... Anyone know how long the battery will last till it fails to hold charge?

Something really nice looking about these machines. I'd be all over it if I didn't already have my Scar 2.
Finance seams expensive at 24.9% so I wouldn't choose that option just to get the extra £100 (unless you plan on paying the balance like the OP did!)

If I hadn't picked up a 2nd hand alienware 15 r3 I'd be still be tempted by this with the £200 trade in!

That's not what you have written:

Hi @CarlGordon
Thanks for posting. There's some confusion that I hope you can clear up.
You say they took your laptop 'no hassle', but then say they wouldn't take your laptop and you had to take the finance option to get £300 off. Can you expand a bit so it's clear? Thanks

Confuses me too, but seems they are less "Picky" when you decide to go finance option, (they get
more money from you if you decide to actually pay monthly) they wouldnt give me £200 without
the finance option but gave me £300 off if i opted for finance, i pay nothing for 6 months, and i fully
intend to pay the remainder (£999) tomorrow over the phone!

So, if you take finance, they still want an old laptop, and they don't care if it's falling to bits? If you just want the £200 off they'll want a laptop in decent condition / good working order? That about right?

They make around 19% out of "providing" the finance option, so use that as bartering chip, compared to paying with say, Amex etc etc, hence the extra incentive to give £300 for a laptop worth a quid!!!
I’m very tempted but would have been certain if it was 0% interest !
Just pay off immediately, in full.

Cheers for explaining how it works, wasn't sure from your post at first. I'm tempted, but dont really need a new laptop or like spending money
No mention of extra £100 off for taking finance on website? Also, do you know if you can pay off finance with CC/Amex?
Sounds like a good deal
So I just walk in a curry’s store with an old laptop and ask them if they would do £300 off the marked price if I wanted to trade in a laptop and buy their laptop on finance?
Just wanted to ask someone before embarrassing myself

Worth a try but I suspect ,store/salesperson specific?
Gooosh
Think I'm going to pull the trigger. I was in store (Sheffield Heeley) talking about the £200 trade in on a broken 10 year old laptop, store manager came over and said they don't do any diagnostic checks on the £300 finance deal.

£200 trade in they check it's <= 7 years old and must be running. £300 finance can be any age and broken. Hopefully I'm told the same thing next time I come in!

Absolutely correct. Let me know how you get on. Not store or salesperson specific. Absolute beast machine. For £999 I honestly don’t think their is anything even close. If Mods had kept the headline price of £999 then this would smash 1,000+ heat.

Let me know how you get on. I am paying it off later today. My sales person builds pc’s for streamers and couldn’t believe the price of this spec of machine. Already £150 off. So from £1,450 to £999.

Agree completely
I work in the gaming section at Curry's... It is £300 off on finance for any laptop over £1000 with an Intel chipset. Any laptop with an Intel chipset between the prices of £600-£999 you still get £200 off with finance. It's an amazing deal especially as they are taking broken computers aswell. Also you can do 6 months interest free which allows you to pay your balance at any point during the 6 months. Even the day after

Is the 6 months free standard, I cant find it on the site?
In my opinion the Helios is the better machine it should have better thermals so keep cooler I've just done this deal with the same machine but the 2070 gfx card pick up next week
Is it worth the extra £350 for the next model up?

2070 8GB vs 2060 6GB
16GB RAM vs 8GB RAM
512GB SSD vs 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD
6-Cell 5hr Battery vs 4-Cell 6hr Battery (lower power card I guess)

Wouldn't worry about a gaming laptop and battery none will last long when gaming . I've just gone for the Acer predator Helios 300 with the 2070

Shame they don't stock the 2060 15" Helios models. 2070 only comes in 17"
Yep I'm happy with the bigger screen it also has better cooling than the 15"
Ahh the hp omen went back to 1199, was really tempted with that. Just spent too long comparing, never owned a gaming laptop and it seemed like a good entry to the tech for me. Also wasn't sure if they'd accept a old netbook so tried looking for another unused laptop haha
