it was hot at £299:

ah well.... :-)

A quick google has produced some not very good reviews - mainly revolving around poor trackpad and slow start up time

You are making a very big assumption here.... you are assuming that the heat of a deal has ANY relevance, pattern or common-sense to whether it is any good or not! :whistling:

I guess so... as I would in assuming someone would rate a product solely on its price and the use of intelligence in making such a decision, ah well... one can hope....

I think its a pretty good price for those wanting to buy this model, same spec on Dell's site will cost you £100 more.

The retailer is what puts me off.
A lot of sales, but enough negatives
feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/…365
to more than confirm to me the poor opinion that Zavvi seems to have on here!

over 22,000 positive and less than 100 negative....

99.6% +ve, 0.4% -ve , BIG difference there IMHO.

funny how people always look at little figures first and ignore the big ones!

Dead right.

It is not only the numbers, some pretty big Ebay dealers have VERY low negative rates, and those negatives they do have are VERY interesting to read.

Read a few of the negatives from other companies (like this one) and you just KNOW what you are in for if there is even the slightest of problems.

I bought one of these, a lot better spec than this from Dell outlet, about £280
but I still sent it back because I found the trackpad unusable.

I only ever look at the negative when I buy from an ebay seller. What were the problems and how did the seller not/resolve them? Here, most negative relates to long delivery times, which I would only accept if the price was very good. (You can always reclaim your money from Paypal if you don't receive an item). But if most negative feedback relates to items arrived not working or broken within a short time, I'd stay away from that seller.

Well, i look at the positives from a seller along with the negatives, and when they have 22,000 plus against 100 minuses, I will buy without even looking at the negatives as so many people cant be wrong....

All companies have plus and minus points, no one is perfect, as are buyers, some buyers expect their bum to be kissed along with a sale.... some people just aren't pleased no matter what!

The trackpad is fine on these laptops - I've bought loads for friends and family - worst case you can just use a Bluetooth mouse anyway. The only issue I would have is with Vista - if you get one from CPW it comes with Windows 7.

You just clearly either haven't been alive long enough yet, or get adequate money with minimal effort; there is always another possibility - someone who thrives on stress.

Others find companies where you are in too much risk for a run-around are just best avoided unless there really is no alternative, or the savings are monumental, and worth the gamble.

On the contrary, companies which engage in too much "bum kissing" are probably best avoided too, as they are too bound up with this than providing actual value; "being pleased" to me involves having ZERO contact after pressing the button, or entering the PIN. It is only when I have to chase problems up that the choice of company really shows, and whatever it is or wherever bought, I prefer not to have to do that.

I agree.
Even the best of trackpads are a total bind.

Wish Bluetooth mice were cheaper though, they always seem to be overpriced, and other wireless mice mean having another dongle plugged in, which for portability isn't very convenient.

Well it is inevitable it is personal, but no one is attacking anyone, so I can't see why you would get wound up by it.

Wisdom does come with age, unfortunately by the time you are wise you often are unable to benefit from it, and the brain proceeds to turn to mush with all that good stuff wasted!

The wily types amongst us try to pick up the wisdom of age from others and use it while still young enough to get some benefit.

I think you have the idea I am bothered by this. It's just discussion, chat. One time, people did this sort of thing in the pub, but times change, & the pubs are closing!

In terms of significance, It's not even a 1 on the Richter scale!

Someone on an Internet forum telling someone else on an internet forum to get a life is just too ironic though. :whistling:

oi all u funnys lookin for laptop go to google.com and right down cheap laptops and you can get this for 150 beat that loserssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ::whistling::oops::x

I can see you are going to be a great asset to this site. :whistling:

It is the whole point of the place to say WHERE something is better or cheaper or whatever, otherwise it is meaningless trolling.
