Sold for £799 on Dell's website (and only 1 year warranty)

See: dell.com/en-…005

Having seen it in store, it's a stunning laptop, very thin, well built/sturdy (aluminium) and with a thin-bezel. Only 1.4kg. With an infrared webcam (so Windows Hello can be used for facial recognition). Backlit keyboard. Has a fingerprint reader too.

Almost as good as an XPS 13 (in term of build quality, thin bezel or overall small case size), but much cheaper. Also, the webcam is positioned properly, unlike the XPS 13

Have been reading up on these and apparently battery life on latest Inspirons is not great compared to competition but still a good deal. Just bought an XPS 13 through Dell Outlet. There's a lot of choice out there, do your research. I went for a 7th Gen i7 and it flies + IMO the XPS 13 is lovely but of kit. Pity I have hand it over to my daughter for her 18th birthday! Too early to tell the battery life but using Word or Chrome it suggests around 10 hours when hovering over battery icon. If you are looking for a lock watch out that Dell don't use standard Kensington locks they use Noble. Dell currently have a combination lock on offer here Combination Lock which is as cheap as I could find it anywhere.
The eighth generation CPUs are becoming readily available now, and those are true quad core not dual with HT.
People might want to consider a latitude 7480 off the outlet as they're designed to last longer.

I had bought an XPS 13 from the Dell Outlet last week, but trackpad was faulty. The Dell Outlet is complete lottery when it comes to what is sent, and they don't seem to do any quality checks at all.

Basically, a customer returns a purchase, and they send it to someone else via the Outlet, without considering why item was sent back originally...

So they are getting the XPS 13 back (I don't want a repaired laptop), and I am getting this instead.

The Acer is a dual core 14", where this is a quad core 13" would be my guess. Two different markets.
The Dell one is probably more stylish and very slim. The Acer one has a more traditional look, thick bezel etc.
The Dell one has a more recent CPU. The Dell weights 1.4 kg, the Acer 1.8 kg.
Basically, the Dell is a more premium product...
Got an xps13 from the outlet a few weeks ago, and I'm underwhelmed by it to be honest - the QHD display is really reflective and causes loads of problem with apps that can't handle the high resolution properly.

I think this Inspiron might be a better fit.

Does anyone know if there is room for more ram or is it just one slot?
If I bought this and had any problems how much would I have to deal with Dell themselves or is everything sorted through John Lewis warranty?

I was tempted to buy a qhd display but thanks for your input about its problems. There was an xps with i7 8th gen last night for 790, but no qhd just hd and I was tempted but resisted waiting for a better deal. Now I wish I took the bite. As its gone out of stock
hot deal.

I am pretty sure the RAM is nailed down on these Apple style, no adding, no swapping but if you want to know for certain go on to the Crucial website and put in the make and model and see what it suggests.

Looks like it according to iFixit

Good deal. I just brought this one which is a similar spec but 17inch screen. I’ve been looking for awhile for one with an i5 8th gen and I thought this one was really good.

Looks like a decent machine for the price. I think the same machine is £615.12 (699 less 12%) direct from Dell at the moment. John Lewis are including a 3 year warranty whereas Dell only includes 1 year.

Same machine from Dell

Nope, the Inspiron 13 7370 is sold from Dell at £799 -12% today = £703

John Lewis does not include 3 year warranty on that model, but 2 years.

I think you are looking at different 17 inch models...

Probably best if you read posts properly before contradicting them.

If you click on the Read more link in my post then you will see that I was referring to the 17-5000 model bought by Yoyo-Lakey. This was, and still is, £699-12% to give £615.12.
