I would say dont get a laptop for gaming, especially ones like this which font have a "discrete graphics card". It not a big deal either. If you want to keep the laptop for a while you need to get it with an "ssd" which is way fast than hard drive, and maybe no lower resolution than Full Hd.

Unless you've thousands for a gaming laptop, and really MUST have something easily portable I think you'd be better off with a 'desktop'.

Ok so forget about gaming. Ok for schoolwork and general teenager stuff. I know an ssd is way faster but i don't think she will see that as an issue As shes not a speed freak. Is it a good deal for the money

If gaming is out of the picture, then something like this at £399.99 should have plenty of power for normal use (watching videos, doing schoolwork, browsing the web etc.) Appears to have a decent battery life too.

(Of course, 8GB of RAM would be nice but it's not worth paying nearly £200 more for that and a very slightly faster processor. Better to buy a cheaper machine that can be used for a few years, then upgrade again to take advantage of all the improvements that have come along between now and then.)

Or there's this HP at £449.99 with 8GB of RAM and an SSD that's twice the size of the one at the link I posted above. However it has a much lower battery life.

Some people reported that the HP laptop at Currys emits high pitch fan noise Click The ebuyer laptop is a safer bet.

Another alternative might be this Dell at £599.01. The processor's significantly faster than the one in the laptop you linked to in the first post of this thread.

They have a 10% student discount, so if your daughter qualified that would bring it down to the same sort of price range.
