Nice!

great deal. tempted to refuse delivery on the one I have on order

Would have bought it here and now if it had a 17" screen! Does this discount work for the 17 model?

Nice find

It works on any Dell 7000 series laptops

HOT. Nice to see a deal with a 1080 screen.
The GPU is decent but even so won't run demanding games at 1080p on high settings; but that shouldn't be a worry for most of us.

Is the FHD screen IPS?

Considering laptop memory prices, the 16GB one might be better value; strangely its WiFi card is only listed as BGN not dual-band AGN. However, you can pick up the 802.11ac one on 'bay and change it pretty easily.

Thank you! Great find! Have lots of heat!!

You would wanna whack a ssd in to see that beast fly.

Surprised its on a 5400rpm tbh.

Voted hot, good deal

finally a deal with a full HD screen

Nice laptop. Good price and spec. Although I am on a Inspiron 14, I don't rate the build quality. If you are looking for a machine you are going to keep in the house, then this will serve you well.

these are horrible, I bought one in December and sent it back. Very heavy, crap battery life, poor drivers and hardware, wifi drops, etc etc, I truly hated it.

bought a Sony 14" flip for £530 and love it, only ann i5 compared to this
i7 yet feels faster

MuthaFFFFFfff... I have this model waiting for me at the depot, sans £30 discount...god damnit. Can I be a bad person and get it returned somehow?...

Overclocking the GPU will help.

I'm not sure about it. It has got plenty of bad reviews. It looks really hot on paper, so hot I wouldn't touch it. Voting cold

"crap battery life" ??? The notebookcheck review said 6.5 hours wifi browsing, and 12.5 hours idle... sounds very good! Sure it was this model? Reviews are generally very good. Ok it could be 0.2-0.4kg lighter, but it is solid metal!

Yes, it is IPS.

Plenty of bad reviews? it's got an average of 4 out of 5 stars. Hardly what I'd call bad

Here's a review, notebookcheck are incredibly detailed and thorough. Very positive overall review.
Only downsides are glossy screen, not latest ac wireless standard, and only standard warranty.
Notebookcheck Review

This is an absolutely cracking laptop for the price. I am very surprised people are complaining. Every review I've found has been overwhelmingly positive. So much so, I have one on the way.

That's the one I was looking at; some people complaining about WiFi issues in the review's comments; however wireless card can be changed (unlike HP/Lenovo) so might be a minor issue.

Well time for my humble opinion
I bought one of these about a month ago and I'm very happy with it.
Manufacturer refurb on ebay for £650 which I thought was good at the time, oh well
I have made a couple changes mind. Samsung Evo SSD and swapped out the Wifi card.
The old drive wasn't too bad (windows booted in about 30 sec) but I did have some drop outs with the Wifi
Its very well behaved now and fires up in about 7 seconds
I'm very happy with how quiet it is even when I've tried it on a couple games.
Plus it can sit on your lap quite happily without cooking your legs which is new to me.
I've tried ACE COMBAT ASSAULT HORIZON Enhanced Edition on high settings no probs and same with Star Wars - Battlefront II
Surprisingly I found the touch screen a lot more useful than I anticipated too. Windows 8 finally make sense :-)
Me personally I like the weight, makes it feel bomb proof but I expect it could be an issue for some.
Oh and battery life is really good compared to my old Lonovo i3
Can't think of anything that I don't like about it really, it was very good when I got it but after my changes its brilliant

Bought this from their outlet site (for 487 +vat). Swapped drive for ssd. It is a little heavy but very nice build quality. Not had any issues with wireless either. Loving the touch screen too

Yep. I'd buy it. Backlit keyboard and 1080p is very rare. Shame it is Windows 8.

Ah, dual core! Not so good.

I got one of these in December on the last deal and it's pretty damn good. The intel n7260 wifi card was the only downside and was pretty shocking, I swapped it for a Dell 1901 card and the wifi has been flawless ever since. While the CPU is one of the low power ulv models I've been able to play most of my games at 1080p res with fairly high settings. Will be adding more ram and a 1tb ssd when they come down to a reasonable price!

I also bought it from Dell Outlet. I returned it as the space bar was very stiff to the point where typing was an awful experience. I also found the touchpad to be difficult at times. Sometimes it just would not move the cursor.

Overall it is a nice machine. The only other criticism I could find was a German review saying there was not enough contrast between colours for it to be accurate for the use of professional photographers. From the point of view of the average user the HD screen is lovely, and all the colours look good with the colour turned up. The battery life was very good.

Anyone else find the spacebar on this to be awful or just me??

Assuming people talking about the Intel wi-fi disconnection problem, all Intel wi-fi cards had that problem. They've since fixed it through a driver update.

Weak processor: … Weak processor: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4500U+%40+1.80GHz

It's a laptop U series though You can't just go on benchmark numbers and it's not exactly weak just very power efficient. When necessary it can clock to 3GHz.

Why would you think that? oO

Looks like a cheap knock of MacBook.

Space bar fine with mine. I had to adjust the touch pad settings a little other than that well happy.

We have 4 of these in the office here for developers, all with retro fitted SSD drives - rapid. Some initial drivers issues with v8/8.1 but all now resolved. About what we paid for these in past, but heat nonetheless. Best balance of spec and price I've found on the Dell site for the last 4-5 months tbh.

EDIT: Also, the next model 'up' has 16gb for £50 more, which is (for once) cheaper or as cheap as you can buy it elsewhere:

Hi, thanks for posting this. Think I'm going to go for it but wondered whether it's worth getting the 3 year warranty for the extra £130? Thanks

i7-4500u has crappy benchmarks.

i7-4500u has crappy benchmarks.

It's a special low voltage CPU, so designed more for battery life than pure performance.

Great price for that spec heat added thanks if only i had some money to buy one

Sorry to post again but I've been looking for a laptop for months now!!! Does this one compare, from John Lewis, as it has the three year warranty included!!! hotukdeals.com/dea…792

Could someone help me out, whats the real difference between this processor and say a standard i5 @ 2.5ghz? Comparing the specs on intel. (ark.intel.com/com…348,75460), the i5 looks better on paper? Someone correct me? Maybe battery life as the i7 is clocked at 1.8ghz? or the Cache?
