I thought this was a pretty good deal for a 3rd gen i5 with 6GB RAM and a 1TB HDD. I think there's also a potential 2.02% TCB/5% Quidco. I'm not too sure if these works with Dell clearance sales, though.

UPDATE:

The price of the Inspiron has been increased and the original cashback offer from TCB has been reduced. The price for this system using the 10% code is now £359.10, and the potential cashback is 2.02%. Quidco is still offering 5%.

unfortunately this windows version contains the number 8. expect the trolls!!

Looks good.

Why the Hate with Dell? I'm posting using a Dell Inspiron 17R SE that's 3 weeks old and there's nothing 'rubbish' about it! Walks all over all of the other laptops in the same price range!

My friend has a Dell Inspiron 15R SE, baring the battery life, it's a fantastic laptop.

You're always going to get those who hate a particular brand.

Cold I can get an HP with 100Mhz 486DX2 and 8MB of ram for £9.99

but seriously this looks like a good deal... ignore the usual 'It's a Dell so it's crap' comments, clearly Dell didn't get to be so huge by selling nothing but crap.

Cue usual comments on integrated graphics and crap resolution. It's a £340 core 3rd gen i5 laptop, good for the price. Beats the acer deal imo due to extra ram and hdd. Hot!

Dell are good

Omg are u seriuosly? u must be one of apple customers like she:
youtube.com/wat…aPw
I dont own myself Dell right now, have asus,m acer, toshiba and lenovo.
But i know that dell have the BEST customer service when u need it. Non of them have that good support when u need it.
Plus they giving u 3 years warranty, what u cant say about most other laptops.
And if u think that dell is bad quality, type in ebay: Sony Vio faulty. And see what faulty laptops you will find.
My answer to you is : BOLOX.

I think people who are complaining about Dell laptops had one in 2002 and wont budge their opinion of them. Dell laptops are very good and if you have doubts then ask someone who actually owns a recent-ish one. Don't just give your outdated opinion if have a Sony Vaio or HP so therefore it must be best'

Battery life on mine is around 2.5 hours - which i think is excellent considering its an i7 with Geforce 650 graphics on a 1080p, 17" screen!

What abt caméra?

1366X768.....I'm out, glad its in the OP though. Still a hot deal for what you get if you are just doing causal stuff or aint too bothered about the res. My current laptop is this res and it did by head in trying to use Adobe Director on it because a third of the panels couldn't be on the screen at the same time, unlike on my 1080 monitor, since then I said my next laptop is going to have a higher resolution than 1366X768.

Damn, I just bought this a few days ago for £360! After it for 2 days, I haven't encountered any problems other than its a little noisy. As for Windows 8, I like it you just have to get used to it!

if you dont like windows 8 mainly because of the start menu not on the desktop download classic shell as it puts it back with all the functions and lots of user customisations.

Could someone recommend me a laptop with a resolution of 1920x1200 and with excellent quality (current Dell). I've tried so many others, but the screens are nowhere as good in quality.

Surprising seeing as my laptop is 5 years old..

This is seriously a good price.. Voted hot... Just on the OS side, can we ask Dell to install Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 as some of the softwares I use are still not compatible with Windows 8 ?

Classic shell isn't very good. StartIsBack is the better one.

ordered

With removing the new start window (the one for a touchscreen device) I quite like Windows 8. The new copy/move and task manager are great and it seems to perform quicker than Windows 7.

DAMNIT WHY ALWAYS INTEGRATED GRAPHICS! Waiting for an i5 with a dedicated graphics card around £400

got this and love it!!

I bought this exact laptop last week for £344. So far so good for the price you wouldn't find a better laptop, and dell isn't so bad! As for windows 8...hate it.

got this for £20 more last week still very happy really nice lappy and very nippy

it might be better i dont know as not used it, its not free though like classic shell, you also have start8 which also isnt free but is also meant to be good, classic shell gets very good reviews.

I've used all 3, start8 isn't all that great. StartIsBack gets injected into Windows 8 so no extra processes and it completely bypasses the start window, see this video.

I disagree with the Dell bashing My Job role includes having to support users including dell users. Their old optiplex desktop pc's were riddled with faults. However their customer service is brilliant and the new laptops are reliable.

That said the laptop appears a ok deal but has the intel graphics so bear in mind when buying.

but isnt startisback a clone of windows 7 start? the reason i like classic shell is all the skins and custom stuff like being able to have your start button as a pic lol, also you can choose xp, vista or windows 7 start.

You can make it styled like aero8 to fit the windows 8 theme, and you have your own orb (start button) the windows 7 start bar is much better than countless context menus.

may give it a try on the 30 day trial to see what i think, one things for sure they are all better than nothing which windows 8 comes with, i tried with out no start on desktop for a couple of days but i couldnt get used to it but i have been using computers since windows 95 came out so im old skool i guess lol

Great deal

This spec and deal is hot, saying that i just bought a new sony a week ago, same kind of Spec but at £529. Win 8 will be Upgraded to win 8 pro and Start8 to install on top.

Bought myself this spec for Xmas - £399. Can't find fault with it for general stuff. Been using it continually since. Had a desktop Dell for about 7-8 years. Never a problem just a bit slow these days on certain things. W8 no problem after couple of days.

It's not that Dells are bad, they're just ugly. I mean, imagine, you're in a lap dancing club, 2 dancers offer you the same private dance, at the same price, just one is uglier than a mutilated pigs head. You're guna go for the playboy bunny, right?

I've got a Dell laptop - the hard drive failed within warranty (not strictly a Dell component), an 'engineer' came to my workplace 2 days later, fitted a new hard drive and spent 45mins reloading windows. Can't complain about that sort of service. Take the point though that they look very functional in a way that was great 10 years ago........
