I needed a new laptop for doing spreadsheets etc and came across this.

Initially wanted the Lenovo 450s, but this has a lot of spec (bar SSD which il fit later) for about £400 less.

Slim and powerful laptop with Windows 8.1, 5th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor, enormous memory and UHD (4K) touch-screen

Also has an alumimiun case and sub 1" thick.

Just to also add, 3yrs Mcaffee antivirus is £5 when bought with this laptop.

Weird ... was working a few moments ago!

Hi thanks for the heads up. Not found the item you seem to referring too yet. Do you have a link to the product in question or a instructions for getting to the right one. Do you have any information about the GPU?

Ive updated the post above with the link and e-code.

Just checked and it still works.

Seems like a killer spec for £219 off "original price".

Why did this just get voted cold by a bunch of people??

4k screen is nice, but be aware that not everything displays clearly with it.

Very quick and nice laptop though.

Also had a whining noise issue on some.

Think some people just vote cold as they bought a £299 poverty dell spec laptop and now only have negative vibes about the company!

**EDIT - please use the £100 voucher instead, that is more effective. Thanks.**

Guys, if you use DELL VIP you get another 10% this price... so £ 629.10.

Enjoy.

We bought 4 at work, one had it. And had to return it.

Still not perfectly silent on others, but a lot more bearable.

do you have a cupon code for us? pls

I've got the similar but a bit higher spec XPS15. Cost around that, but +vat instead of including vat from the outlet.
Had to wait a few days for a 'scratch and dent' of the spec I wanted.

No coil whine from mine.

Got the last model of this laptop. Fantastic laptop. Really good design and ergonomics. Can't fault it.
Keyboard was a bit weird (high error rate), but they came out and swapped it out and now no problem.

99% of ppl who buy this, will buy because of numbers/spec and have no clue that they will never get anywhere close to utilising the RAM. The touchscreen is worthless, you're paying for that touchscreen. 4K is a gimmick and this resolution is not supported in all programs properly.

It's your money though, anyways helps to know what you're buying.

Pity there's no SSD option

Probably realised it just BS specs and a waste of money. This laptop is a n00b reeler, reeling in the people that see specs and can't get their wallet out quick enough. For the average user this laptop is an absolute waste of money. If I'd seen this deal I wouldn't have posted it. It's not bad for people that can use the performance and I'm not a dev but it's probably very useful for devs to test how their apps render in 4K. i7 means nothing in this laptop either, just a marketing term so you think i7 aha that's obviously a high end CPU for the money, sorry this isn't a quad core CPU (not that you'll use a quad core) just a standard dual core with hyperthreading. So effectively the CPU can run 2 threads/processes per core, but it's still a dual core and no better than many i5 CPUs.

Can this laptop do any serious gaming and can it run games at 4K? Not really (stop having a laugh!) >

4k may be a gimmick for video but not for text and graphics. Using 200% 'zoom' on different devices and have not seen any such rendering issues these days.

I really don't get people using 500dpi on phones and tablets but use laptops and monitors with visible pixels...

Yup I agree with you that 4K doesn't work on this size of monitor; as you just stated 4K isn't fully compatible with stock settings, due to the limitation of the size of the panel i.e. it's too small, so you have to alter the zoom level to compensate. For more information on display scaling here's one article (there's plenty more online) >

I used to have two HP Envy i7 touchscreen laptops, a 17" first which broke and I replaced it with a 15.6". It had a much more powerful proper i7 CPU and 8GB ram with Intel HD 4600 graphics. The 1080p panel was just right on the 17" version the 15.6" didn't have or need a 1080p panel. I've now ditched the HP Envy, as in sold it and bought a Mac Mini 2014 (a certainly contentious model).

Personally I prefer business grade laptops such as HP / Lenovo, not consumer grade, so I currently have an HP i5 6530b Probook. It's older, but it does what I need, in fact I took the SSD out of it recently and stuck an 80GB HDD in just for testing Windows 10, which was so awful at the time, I didn't bother anymore. I use an XW6600 workstation with 32GB RAM and the Mac Mini currently.

Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from the Ancient Greek: ἔλλειψις, élleipsis, "omission" or "falling short") is a series of dots that usually indicates an intentional omission of a word, sentence, or whole section from a text without altering its original meaning
