OK I realise this was posted before.. but I just realised it is now reduced further to £340.82. Whereas it was posted for £352.57 beforehand. The specs are exactly the same which makes this a bargain!

By the way, it might be worth knowing Dell is one of the firms where you can easily haggle. Weather that be for a discount or an upgrade. If you have ordered from dell before just give them a ring and tell them your a returning customer and 90% of the time they will be able to offer you something extra.

have you got the Dell E-Value code?

Original Poster

OK I still got the window open.. thankfully. Now where do I find this e-value code?

Go to the original listing of the 1501 and it will have the table of the different 1501's available there are e value codes below them

OK let me have a look, by the way heres the link to it. I dont see a reason why it shouldnt work - ecomm.euro.dell.com/del…CFG

didnt work

OK heres the e-value code - UKBSDONL-N05151

If you customise the system and then downgrade to the 90 day C&R that takes off 85 quid which brings it down to 229. With added VAT + P&P it will total to 340

Cheers!

No Probs. By the way.. do you this this deal is just a one off? Obviously as time goes on the value of anything will decrease. But I need a laptop for October for when I go on holiday. Im obviously a bit eager to get hold of one, but would you think this deal is a one off or I will be able to get something better for this price in a few months?

Not entirely sure but that value code brings up a more expensive spec'd system for me , dells system is very akward at times, sometimes it throws great deals at you one minute then rubbish ones the next!

If you can hang on for like 10 mins.. I'll show u exactly how to get that system for the price mentioned.

can do...

Original Poster

OK.. looks like it'll take a bit longer than expected. How long u got?

Not sure I can always check tommorow, ive seen it myself for that price but now when i go to search for it the price seems to be bumped up, ill most likely be on for a while longer yet.

this seems to be the value code.

Glad you got it sorted.

Anyone have any Dell voucher/coupons active atm?

Zak I have altered your deal post to link direct to the laptop and corrected the deal price to £340.82 which it has been since 16th May btw.

If you want this with XP home instead of Vista basic use This link

Thanks for listing the deal ;-)

I would like to go for this deal This would be my first laptop but could somebody explain what the difference is between XP and Vista and is Vista easy to use, and how long would this battery last? how much longer is the 6 cell battery
Thankyou

Why dont people just continue the old thread?
I did the obvious thing 2days ago, checked the dell deals. And then (as they did not say expired) clicked them and found them slightly cheaper.
If the OP just added a new comment its back at the top of the page, and everybody is aware again

XP is the old OS (Operating system) where is Vista is the new one, but it uses up alot of memory and some pc's/laptops can be slow as they do not have enough RAM etc to run Vista smoothly. XP is still offered as it uses much less memory and has more compatible software at the moment, but within 2 yrs Vista will become the main OS and XP wont have anymore more support from Microsoft.

6 cell battery offers roughly 3hours of battery, but if i were you invest in 9 cell as you wont have to re-charge as much.

Thankyou Manzi

Just ordered one with the XP home, from link posted by MikeT. Reduced the service to 90 days to get the best price and upgraded the battery to 6cell, Total £352.57. Excellent price for a dual core with 1GB memory.

ilikebargains did u phone up and prder as you could have got the price cheaper by saying you can get a simular laptop cheaper.

I contacted Dell via their browser online chat and asked if they could upgrade the battery to 6 cells, as I can go through Quidco and get 5% cashback, but they would not budge, saying the price is very competitive as it is.

I am happy with the price I paid as I think it's a good deal for a dualcore 64bit laptop.
