Is it me or this is turning into something ridiculous. As long as you can only buy it instore and it is a clearance deal, chances that you will get it are near zero...

Sorry but if you dont believe me would you like to see a photo of my receipt?

hot if you can find it

we have 5 tesco stores in our areas, and i am well up with most of them. They all get different stock, so the chances of finding one of these will be very slim. I am not saying I dont believe you, but I do think it will be slim!!

This is going to be a clearance item, so for example, there will be a one in chance of me finding it in my stores, and a smaller chance of me finding a clearance item that has probably been harvested!!

So near zero isn't nil....
If you went to Tesco for a few bits and pieces knowing you might pick one up for the price shown then that's ok, isn't it?

all these tescos laptop deals are entirely bogus, posted by tesco marketing dept

Completely agree! The ammount of times I have gone out after seeing something on HUKD only for it to be nowhere to be seen in the store.....

The deals do exsist, if you are extremely lucky. I nearly manage to get a Siemens with Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo processor with 3GB RAM and 160GB Hard Drive and Vista Premium for £299 but after paying for it and half an hour of waiting they bought out a previously opened one which was a different model that only had a Celeron processor , 1GB of RAM and Vista Basic which they would have been perfectly happy for me to walk out of the door with. Good job I checked it first! They then checked the price and wanted £250 for that one, I declined.

Just went to the two tesco extra's in reading none there but when i asked them to do a stock check they had it on their machines at that price so the deal isn't "bogus" you just have to be lucky as was said

I agree..... rang HQ on the last 'deal' (which is now over 2000 degrees) and they said there were two showing for Nottingham Hucknall and 2 for Nottingham Top Valley...... rang both stores (Top Valley is chav land so obviously they didn't answer) . Hucknall however said the cheapest one they had was £199. There was a conversation between the woman I spoke to and somebody else that worked there..... prob along the lines of 'they are both in the back reserved for colleagues'

Hesitantly she told me there were none.

I'm not going to bother again ....utter waste of time! If the staff don't get them then the unemployed HUKD go and get them so they can put them straight on ebay. Is it any wonder my posts have become so negative? lol

Not everything needs to fall into your lap. Sometimes it requires a little bit of work for you to benefit from something. The OP posted this deal because they benefited from it and feels other people as well. The OP did not guarantee others would be able to obtain this as well, they simply shared the knowledge they had.

If you get one then great. However, if you do not then do not whinge like a spoilt brat. You win some you loose some.....

do you know what graphics card comes with this? Also, what size battery? ta

Don't get too excited it's obsolete and old stock replaced by Inspiron 15 - 349 direct from Dell with the same 250GB HD, 2GB but a Intel T4200 2Ghz - To name just the basic changes, if not the graphics is better (Direct X 10) and Display is higher res.

That can't be true ... because then we all run off to Tesco's and discover just how miserable, ignorant, unhelpfull and just generally unfriendly the staff are.

I've met ten Tesco workers for the first time in the past two days, and jesus, they were crap, useless and totally disinterested in actually helping.

Its not really a deal if its available to 3 people in some obscure Tescos surely for it to be a HUKD it should be available to all , this clearly isnt its a clearance item and while its an excellent price its in short demand and obviously very scarce.

I think ill start posting everything i find at the local carboot sale theyre all bargains and not my fault if half of you dont live near enough.

Tesco seem to be clearing out the older laptops & netbooks. there are several deals posted.

I was lucky enough to pick up a 120gig HD aspire one withn 1 gig DDR2 & linux for £116. Perfect for my wee girl and avoids sticky fingerprints onthe screen of my NC-10 !

Go in with a positive attitude, ask at the counter, ask for boxes to be brought though etc & persevere. Staff often do not know what is in the stockroom. I was told none in stock of the 120gig type I wanted, so asked for 8gig SSD to be brought through and there was a 120gig amongst them. Turned out to be ex display so another 10 % off !

So, I walked out of the store with mine about 30 minutes after a chap i was behind was told there were none in stock. These deals do exists and they are not as scarce as some of the other 'one-offs' that appear now & again from the old favourites.

These deals are known in the trade as BAIT deals. The purpose is to loose money on an item with a prospect of making tens or hundreds of times more money back from these same customers. In hunting jargon Tesco is the hunter, shoppers are the animals foraging, the Tesco store is the cage, the bait is the clearance item. Once they get you in the cage you are their prize. Besides you shouldn't really drive out to hunt for these clearance items as , say, you stood 1 in 20 chance of buying whenever you see these on HOTUKDEALS. So if you are only successful in getting one item after trying hunting loadsa times for these deals on HOTUKDEALS you have to ask yourself how much the fuel costs and time costs toted up to save £100 for an item when finally that you are lucky!

I presume you are assuming your font is inversely proportional to the intelligence on this forum? By the end of your post presumably we became a lot more intelligent. Thanks.

So is the idea to get you into the store and if you don't find the megabargain you might buy something else ?

Must admit I've been to a few Tesco's recently and the time wasted and the fuel wasted does add up.

Still for anyone who does get a bargain (and I must admit the Tesco staff don't really know or seem to care what they have or haven't in stock) good luck to you.

absolutely spot on - I 've been for 3 "bargain" netbooks without a sniff, and of course while you're there you go and buy a few groceries (£20-30) and return home only to find another "bargain" listed on here....yes , they DO exist - but punk d'ya feel lucky - did I sell all my netbooks or have I got one left.?

What a load of rubbish. Tesco are clearing these out hence why there are only a handful available at a limited amount of stores. There is no "baiting" going on here, Tesco aren't a small retailer who are making limited quantities of these items available as part of a marketing stunt. They are simply clearing old stock.

Thanks for your informed, intelligent and well thought out comment - very helpful.

Meanwhile the rest of us can put a bit of effort in and reap the rewards. These are FANTASTIC deals if you find them and they are out there.

No doubt that's true but I've had amazingly helpful service too - as a result got the Acer deal when a (min wage?) night worker took the trouble to search for me in the stockroom.

Sometimes the way you approach these people makes a big difference too - they're human beings first, Tesco workers second.
