Yes if you only have £300 to spend then ok well £285 if you get quidco. But you get a poor processor, 1gb ram, 160gb HD, 4 cell battery and vista basic. For £360 you can get a Asus T3200 processor, 2gb ram, 250gb HD, 6 cell battery and vista home premium. It also has a GeForce 8200 GPU.

So the extra £60 goes along way.

Ps remember quidco for Dell is pre-VAT.

yeah there is a specific link for it at the cashback sites mentioned

£282 is still a good price for something that is selling in pcworld and dsgi for £370 and tesco for £350 at 400 degrees

Yes but even if you only select the T1600, 2gb, 250gb HD, 6cell and vista prem it's over £400. Then it still has a worse processor and graphics and costs lots more.

So yes I agree with you its cheap. What I'm questioning is its value for money?

Quidco is 4% NOT 6%.

No it seems I'm not as smart as you and for all the other dummies out there like me how do you get the spec that I posted above but with the T4200 for £370 as I can only get it for £443.98. In fact its its a good deal why dont you post it!?

you add the T6100 and you get £443 its £374 with the T4200 and i have posted it already as you are posting in the very same thread

if it makes you feel better that is with 1gb ram as its over priced when you add it at £20 for 1gb and you can source yourself for much less

the post is for the basic model listed but as i already mention you can upgrade it

Your maths has lost me know. Basic laptop is £299 processor upgrade to T4200 is £59. So were at £359 right? Vista upgrade is £29.99 so that now makes £388.99. We'll stick with the 1gb of ram if you with, even though with 256mb taken for graphics wont leave you much for programs. So yes were still at £388.99. Hard disk upgrade is £20.00 so £408.99. 6 cell battery add £15. So £423.98 so I'm still £50 adrift on my maths am I not?

250gb = £20

So no vista upgrade and only 1gb of ram and it's still more expensive! Also Quidco is 4% of the pre-VAT unit cost so quidco will be £13. So £381 or £374 if you like its still not good value for money.

Well I think the public has made the final judgment on this deal don't you.

as i mentioned before topcashback is offering 6% on this.... add 2gb ram for about £13 hotukdeals.com/ite…00/ here and a better processor to boot with your choice of colour and 1 year collect and replace warranty. you can get a free upgrade to windows 7 shortly so i wouldnt worry too much about the os, this over the asus... this wins mate even tho you havnt shown this asus yet?

I was just pointing out not that great value for money The Asus was an example there are loads out there like the compaq offer at DSG at £349. If you want to look at the Asus its at ebuyer product 150323. But there are other just as good offers about.

Once again you missed the point. Yes I agree you won't do any better for £290 but spending a little more gets you a whole lot more performance. Once you have added all the extras in to make it a machine you would want to use then the Dell is not great value for money. We could go on forever with this so we might as well agree to disagree.

Why is this so cold? Seems like a decent enough deal to me. If someone has a max budget of £300 then please can someone show me a better deal?

decent price 2.16 core 2 duo is good wtf is going on why on earth cold???!!

so you say you cant get any better for the cash, yet you are voting cold and arguing the toss because you can spend a bit more and get more for more cash

so whats the point in that exactly, everebody is aware that spending more can get yo more but this is a decent budget machine for students, people out of work or whatever

agree to disagree on what exactly you have already contradicted youself by agreeing you wont get better for the cash.......pointless argument with a clueless person

it would seem you are missing the point with your argumentative know it all nature......the point was and still is its a cheap dell laptop for under £300

I'm not contradicting myself, I made the point in post 8 that it was cheap, but does it make it good value for money. For me, no it doesn't so I voted cold and left a reason which is whats expected. My vote only counts as -9 so many more people voted it cold to get it to its current -80. I'm guessing they don't think its great value for money either.

As for the pointless argument, what argument? I was just stating my point and you yours. So I voted cold as I'm clueless along with all the many other cold voters. If that what you want to believe then you will have plenty of time to think about it while waiting for you laptop to boot.:)

you made the whole thread into a pointless argument when in reality you agree its the cheapest hottest deal.....comparable item cannot be found for the same price

contradictions mate

as for the coldness its pretty obvious to see its your clique fan club which are used to blowin smoke up 1 another whille i managed to have a 4000 degree hot deal :whistling: had the same old cold voters there yawn

if you bothered to read the op it was aimed at people on a budget, im happy with my sony vaio T8100, 2.1ghz 4gb/400gb with blu ray burner, probably a little better than your less than mediocre asus @370
