Its only 2% cash back for Inspiron

If you use the 9% off anything then it does not allow you to also have the £60 off code, unless you have worked out a way round it as I cannot get both to work.

No, this doesn't use the 9% code, just the £60 off one. Also I'm fairly sure the TCB is 10%? Feel free to prove me wrong though :).

TCB is 2% Quidco is 5% for Inspiron...are you thinking this is the XPS version?

Ah, so it is, I'll update the OP. I didn't notice the 'inspiron' cashback, and instead was looking at the 'all other purchases'

Thanks,

Dan.

True, though at this price you're lucky to be getting dedicated graphics at all, rather than Intel's integrated rubbish!

Also, don't forget TopCashBack will match Quidco at 5%, but without any £5 charge (plus it's generally less hassle!).

I usually come to these comments to find out why it's not a good deal and dissuade myself, anyone got any reason why this is not a good deal? :P

By the way is this the touchscreen version?

It is a good deal. Only slight negatives are that is a fairly lowish screen resolution for a latest laptop and that Dell take 10 working days to deliver!!!

Thanks, it's very hard for me to part with my money being a student, so finally, when I look at the reviews I see lots and lots of negative comments on the laptop having problems. Is this why it's being sold cheap, and does anyone here have any experience with the 15z?

whats the res? 1024x768 or 720

There must be an unlimited massive stockpile of low resolution screens!

I wish companies would offer more premium panel options.

Another coupon option in case the other one expires.

I'm looking through reviews to find something negative too, there really isn't much!!

Reviews say that as well as the impressive specs, the build quality is good, the keyboard is comfortable, the touchpad is good, and the screen is actually very bright and crisp despite the 720p resolution.

Battery life is also about average for the price.

Really? How long have you been using computers - two days? The screens are not the best ever (why should they be?) but are a million miles away from being the worst. Do you work for a competitor?

LOL @ people complaining about 'only' 720p resolution - especially at this price.
Just no pleasing some of us I guess.

720p is perfect for small screens what's up with everyone thinking there eyes are able to tell the difference.

It's nothing to do with your eyes telling the difference, you can fit way more on the screen if it's a higher resolution. Change your resolution to lowest e.g 800x600 and using software like Photoshop will be a nightmare with all the 'windows' you need open
EDIT: Although I agree, 720 is fine and especially at this price

Also most websites are optimised for 720p. On a 1080p screen more often than not you have to settle for a tiny looking website in the centre of the screen (or on the left, if you're on Youtube ), or if not a slightly blurry, up-scaled version of the site.

Not trying to say that 720p screens are better, because it depends on your needs, but it's something that a lot of people forget when deciding on a screen resolution for their laptop!

Rather have more screen space.

UPDATE: Quidco/ TCB WILL definitely work with this deal!

As this is the case should I change the bolded price to '£506', or leave it as it is? This is my first deal I've posted here so I'm not 100% sure how the system works yet

Thanks,

720p is more than acceptable for this laptop, especially since its only got a 630m. Whilst it's not the worst card, you'd get some pretty terrible results if you tried to play any recent games on medium-high settings using the 630m on a 1080p screen.

Only having 1366 x 768 resolution puts alot less strains on the graphics card and will give you better performance in GPU heavy tasks such as gaming and such.

That's not saying the 630m is good though, it's mediocre at best and isn't what you're looking for if you're planning on doing alot of gaming.

720p

1,366 x 768 15.6" screen.

2.17kg (4.78lbs)

This is a good deal, but not for me at this res, my current laptop is this res and its good for most things, I just remember when I had to use Adobe Director for some course work and I installed it on my laptop.. panels / panes were not veiwable because of the res and I found it really annoying and harder to do what I needed to do compared to my desktop that has a 1080p display that showed much more on the screen (more panels viewable etc). I also want something lighter than my current laptop, which is a 13.3" Samsung q330 and comes in at just under 2kg and I think it feels abit heavy.

Edited by: "jg213" 28th Dec 2012

It is not OK to have so little vertical screen space.

The only Dells worth going for are Precision (At least you can get 1920x1080 which is as good as dell do - The best panel add's an extra £1000 to the cost though).

Agreed, it's not the best, but it's more than twice as good as Intel's HD 4000 card, which is what most of the super hot deals on this site come bundled with! So no, it's not for the most hardcore of hardcore gamers, but it's fine for casual gamers, and a welcome improvement over the usual integrated graphics

Here's a benchmark:
