Thought this one was worth a shout up, a decent amount of storage and a good CPU. A nice sized display if you like a something a little bigger. Not IPS, but still I think it's a good price for a Dell machine of these specs.

There's also a code for £150 off a £899 spend, which might throw up something else that may interest you. That code is MUM150

You'll see all the models included Here
Just look for this under the product, saves trying the code on randoms at least (pretty normal way that Dell do it anyway, but just in case.

Link goes to 15' for me, was confused by lack of HDD. Great find though!
This exact laptop and the model which includes an AMD Radeon 530 4GB discrete GPU are on the Dell Outlet certified refurbished for quite a bit less with the 12% off code at the moment. Failing to see the deal here?
Awwwww my mum actually wants a laptop.
I’m sure most people have hardcore gaming mothers.

Yep I agree, and they've been a lot cheaper on the past on Dell outlet
Where's the graphics card?

How can you compare refurbed ones to brand new? I would only want brand new .
Have a similar model. Endless problems with speakers, screen. Be warned
Have the same one, don't like it. There is something with this processor running at hyper speed all the time even if not needed. And so the fan runs at 100%. I had to limit the speed to 99% (so it doesn't go to like 150%) and Dell support told me to wait for bios update. But few months on it still hasn't been fixed. I told myself to stay away from Dell few years ago and bought this over chrismtass with a coupon but I wish I didnt

I have a Dell laptop and like many other sufferers I am waiting for a BIOS update to control the backlight on the keyboard. If it's not there when you buy a Dell, immediately return for refund because you will never get Dell to sort out anything.
I second the comments above. Bought the 7577 in the deal with the vr headset in December. I’ve had 2 technicians out as the hinges / lid were not aligned, a replacement sent that was even worse, another technicianfixed it last week only for it to slip out of alignment again. Going to get a refund. One of the most stressfull experiences ever! Don’t buy dell!!
Dell = Hell

I'd strongly recommend that you get something with the same CPU as this. You don't need an i7, the i5-8250U is the first mobile i5 that is quad-core. In most tasks, it will outperform all mobile i7s except the very newest quad-core ones. It's also only 15W so will give good battery life.

Also make sure you get something with at least 8GB RAM (4GB doesn't cut it anymore, especially with integrated graphics).

Try going to the PC World website and searching for "i5-8250U 8GB", then you'll see a few models in your price range:

The same laptop can be bought for £589 using the code INSPIRON110
When laptops first came out 17" screens was the norm. Then for some reason they shrunk. Laptops have not kept up either with phones for better specs and cheaper prices each year
Nice to see a deal with a 17" screen, even Apple stopped making them for some reason.

Agreed.
My annoyances are: there are less ports than there used to be particularly USB (ok, you can an an external multi-way adapter but it's ugly and it sticks out), there is sometimes no ethernet port,

The leds are fewer, less bright and in obscure places. It's important to be able to see that the battery is charging/has charged. What has happened to the disk activity light? Even on pcs, this has often disappeared! And I don't think it's very cool to place any round the side or under the front edge where you can't see them without lifting the machine up and looking like an idiot!

Also worth mentioning are on/off switches on the sides in the same colour so they have to be flush with the surface and a hard press (so you don't accidentally switch them on or off!) Ditto cd/dvd drives!
why are the lemmings still giving heat to this deal when its now cold?

you shouldn't just blindly recommend alternatives with different sized screens - quite often a big difference between screen quality between 15 and 17 inchers as is the case with the one you recommend
(generally the 15 inch should be assumed to be crap unless you find otherwise)
Had my Dell 7737 i7 17 inch laptop for 4 years now and it's been trouble free.
Bought a similar model from Curry's in January for son university. On first night found the phone jack not working, took it back to store and the flapped around with it for an hour while waiting, couldn't get it to work, the store said they will replace it but they couldn't replace it until it's been send back to where ever and confirmed. After a week, rang store and they said it's still waiting to be picked up by DHL, they blamed DHL, I argued it's got nothing to do with me, it's between them and DHL, I should have had the replacement in the meantime.
Spoke to manager and he was adamant this is the correct procedure and can't or not willing to help, so to cut a long story short, I asked for a refund and went and bought an exact model from Dell output for slightly more expensive but with 2 years warranty.
I wouldnt buy ANY intel based laptop at that budget. If it aint got a ryzen cpu with vega graphics onboard its not coming in.

As you have been blessed with sight then can u explain how the 15 inch isn't FHD? Also the person wanting to purchase the alternative option I gave should read before purchasing, just because I put a link there doesn't mean they spend their hard earned money without even checking anything.

its full hd but so? that doesn't tell you the actual quality
putting a link can be seen as a recommendation unless you qualify it saying 'here is a random machine which may be an alternative but i have no idea about it...'

It's because fewer people want 17" screens. They want 13.3"-15.6" and since market forces dictate prices and choices this is why Apple discontinued 17" Macbooks and there's fewer Windows based 17" laptops. The most common size is 15.6"
