Cool story bra
Its a good price but I would warn you that I was always a dell fan until I got this one. The touch pad is pretty much unusable. You will need a mouse to prevent going mad. Also mine is the touchscreen version which lost its touch screen functionality when I upgraded to windows 10. Microsoft say talk to dell after lots of useful suggestions like clean the screen. Dell say talk to microsoft. I am mustering up the energy to go back to windows 8.
If you're going to link to a deal which is not new, it would be best to say (in this case, it's refurbished by MCS).

LPT: Never trust a company with a significant amount of money if they look dodgy. Excluding VAT from prices when not selling specifically to business customers? Dodgy, illegal, and designed to be deceptive. Avoid.

Have put refurbished in the title I have done some research and they seem legit and have had some deals on here before
As for the VAT I think this covers the reason why its not got the VAT isn't shown. They say they supply businesses and supply the trade.

bought Dell 7737 and the only difference from this one was that ive got 8gb RAM model. have it from mcs and could say they are proper company. my Dell looks like new, battery lasts still 5 hours and I've got it within 2 days from ordering. the charger of laptop was new.
Not a high end CPU
16GB RAM - Useless unless you have a workload that can use it - Useless for gaming.
GT 750M - Plays games averagely for people that want to pay too much for the pleasure of gaming averagely
Touchscreen - Absolutely useless
Windows 10 Home - Definitely guaranteed not to have any bugs or be crap ever.

If this was £422 I'd drop kick it in the canal, at this price give me a crossbow and 10 cans of special brew.

It's also heavier than a block of cement. 3.3kg without PSU is ridiculous.

Isn't this more of a desktop that you can put in a drawer when not in use and as such the battery isn't a big deal?
281 deg and no-ones got a good word to say about it. You're a strange lot.

i7 is still a high end laptop CPU; especially the 45. I am running a quad core 2.2 i7 of a much earlier generation and it blazes through laptop tasks.

16GB of RAM is perfect for multitasking especially users with 10+ tabs open while running media tasks and/or doing other activities like presentations.

Windows 10 is great. Stop bitching.

Touchscreen; fair point it might not be amazing but no one is using a 17 inch laptop as a tablet.

GT 750M is perfectly fine for running most games at a decent setting.

The only fail here is that you have considered yourself the ideal customer of this laptop and decided it's crap.

The laptop is not aimed at you. Not everything is about you.

I would get you a crossbow but you would claim it's not this years latest crossbow with hyper-threading bolt technology.
I had the same laptop, paid £500 via dell outlet around 18 months ago.. It is big and heavy, but built to last. However I wouldn't pay more than £350 for it today.
Have been looking at these 17"ers from Dell for quite a while (i like the appearance and the specs are fine for me as a non gamer) and whats put me off is the apparent lack of quality control.
While many seem really happy with the laptop just as many are not and the customer reviews would indicate that its perhaps quality control at fault, so its a bit hit and miss as to whether you get a decent one or not.
Its a shame that Dell do not do a really upmarket quality 17"er with the minimalist understated look of this one.
Windows 10 is NOT great. You really think it's great when Microsoft can install anything they like via an 'update' and you have no ability to refuse it?
I'm after a large screen laptop (for media use rather than games)

If people are 'dissing' this one can they point to something better?
I bought one if these from mcs last year. The battery showed 100% health and the laptop was almost like new. Touch screen is as good as any other laptop touch screen I've used and the performance is generally very good.Like to point out that the Nvidia 750 m is very close to the Alienware 14 one which costs a lot more.
For the money, this is a good peice of kit,it is slim, powerful and well built.
This review is from someone who actually owns one purchased from Mcs.
Cant recommend enough.

And this everyone is why we can't have nice things, people like this who fail to understand that moves like this from Microsoft mean you effectively do not own your computer anymore. Give them a bit of eye candy, call it "free" and they are as happy as pigs in ****.

If you want to spend £521 on a non-official refurb'd 4kg brick like this to put on your lap, then be my guest.

Other people - certainly those more familiar with the laptop market - will have more sense.
I've bought several laptops from these guys,my Inspiron 17, my fiancee has the Xps 13, my son the Alienware 17,and recently I have the Alienware 18 for playing my games.
Every time I have dealt with these guys, they are helpful and professional.
There are few genuine refurbish companies that are Dell approved and in my experience ,the machines in my house from mcs are better than the two occasions I have bought from Dell outlet, which both ended up being returned.
I think its a small family run business, and the guy I spoke to seemed very knowledgeable and helpful.

You clearly don't have a clue about laptops and components.

And the only "moronic" point I've made is that it weighs 3.3kg without PSU, which makes it a brick in laptop terms.

How have you refuted that exactly? Have you bought one and hollowed out the insides to reduce the weight and replaced the case with a cardboard one?
Nice find OP, solid product (maybe a bit toooo solid but nvm)! X)

No, it's not a great OS. How does wanting the ability to decide what can and cannot be installed on a Personal Computer make that commenter paranoid? There are any number of reasons not to want automatic updates such as limited bandwidth, compatibility issues and a preference for a version of software before the update to name just a few. How about you consider your responses so you don't come across like a narrow minded fool?

My response is considered. There are fools on this thread, believe me. I am not one.

If you want go through life thinking Microsoft are "victimising" you then there are forums for that. A deal site is not one.
Yawn.
I've bought a fair amount over several years from MCSCOM - All the items are as listed, and usually in very good shape. Whatever refurbishment - its done to a good level. Any scratches or dents typically get advertised. And in the rare case where I raised any query with them - they responded rapidly and looked after me.

Good company.

You are either very ignorant about computers, or a troll.

Build software teams for a living (and a good living it is too) and have also launched two successful startups and worked in Silicon Valley.

Unlike you, I actually know what I am talking about and can see Microsoft for what they are; a collection of intelligent people attempting to bring new products to market and fulfill consumer demand. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

However you couldn't possibly comprehend the level of future facing technology being envisaged by the Microsoft R&D team. It would blow your mind.

Mentally you are a juvenile who does not understand business or the leaps in thinking required to innovate.
