I would personally think this would be good enough for medium settings on current games. It also has DirectX 10 capabilities so you are at least future-proofed in a way. According to reviews as well, the Geforce 8600M is the best value for its money and also the 256MB DDR2 memory of the graphics/video card is better than the 512MB because the 8600M only has a 128 bit pipeline anyway!

I HOPE THIS WOULD BE OF HELP TO PEOPLE!

A bit in 3dmark 06, but not really that much difference. It'll do for medium games, just as long as you turn down the graphics quality. I have a 8600GT in a spare machine which works fine with PCSX2, Call of Duty 4 and Enemy Territory: QW

Im pretty sure it's one of the same thing. The different types of 8600M are the GT and the GS versions, GT being the superior.

Sorry, didn't realise it was already posted.

I keep bringing this up but don't apologize for it basically see ]this post about NVIDEA chipsets. Can the mods not add something to put up a warning flag if 8600 / 8400 keywords come up because at the moment there is no cure for this issue and people are potentially being sold dud hardware.

why expired ?

Been looking into this 8600gt problem and come accross good news...well for recent Dell purchasers!...is that Dell is giving piece of mind by Extending the Warranty by 1yr on the card.

That is not necessarily good news. It is the very least they should be doing and what are they going to replace the card with should things go wrong?

I highly recommend you DO NOT update the bios as this may prolong the onset of the fault. I also recommend that you start running a lot of graphics intensive apps / games toward the end of the extended warranty too.
