Good deal I think, especially with the high res display and warranty. Its not got sandy bridge i3 yes, but its not a deal breaker really, still a very capable processor for the price.

Products are A-grade.

shame the battery is a sticky outy

Well it helps with air circulation and its not really a portable laptop obviously since its 17.3 inch.

Plenty of their deals have been posted on this site before.

How can this dissapoint? A high-spec CAD/gaming laptop with 4GB already in, a respectable 500GB hdd and 12 months warranty. Dell may not be the best quality but you will struggle to find these specs on eBay any cheaper.

24 months warranty man :P

I'm very suspicious of this deal as this is an old model "1764" that Dell stopped making over 9 months ago, and these have to be very old units judging by the fact they come with Microsoft Works 9, which Dell stopped supplying over 9 months ago in favour of office 2010 starter, even on their refurb units, plus they have 1066hz DDR3 Ram, where all Dell started using 1333hz DDR3 Ram over 6 months ago... the only way you can buy this model now is as a refurb unit from the outlet (and even the UK outlet only has 1 in stock at the moment)...

Convieniently the site also fails to mention the condition of the item and whether it is new or refurb, it only states that the item is a EU product with a uk plug supplied.

If you look in the terms and conditions however, you will find that the company is based in Holland... I would therefore think that these are Euopean refurb units been sold on......

An i3 and entry level GPU doesn’t qualify this even remotely for either of these categories!

Yeh i was gunna say this looks like an older model. They merged their Inspiron with XPS range, but i would imagine they would have very limited refurb stock compared to new stock? Also no wireless N, which is almost garunteed with any new laptop now?
Edited by: "Ruscoe21" 7th May 2011

Still cheaper than the dell refurb site, even if it is an older model.

BTW if you really want to see a fanttasy Dell deal check this out:

not to mention the " new" ones he is " selling". Some people are gonna be stung big time.

You can often pick up an XPS 17 with an i5 and much better graphics than this for ~£450 delivered on the outlet. The 1764 is much more basic in terms of build quality and features and not in the same class.

That is £50 extra, there is a "chance" you can get one, and I doubt it comes with 2 year warranty.

Sub 450. xps 17 i5. . Really, even now that the delivery offer has expired? I can never find those deals.

This thing is ancient in the computing world, almost 1 year. Is this really new stock?

And your point being? Not everyone needs/wants/can afford an i3/i5 sandybridge laptop! This laptops processor is still great for most peoples needs.

That actually comes to £42 more and like any Outlet deal it often requires some patience to get one. But it is a significantly better laptop and it will come with a 1 year warranty.
I’ve seen both ranges and the 1764 and 1564 are very much cheap and cheerful. I’d rather an XPS 17 with a 1 year warranty as the 1764 looks as if it requires a longer warranty.

Im not doubting the capability of the laptop. It is very good spec/value. I voted hot btw. My only doubt is wether it is brand new in box or if its a refurb.

I've been a member of iBood for years, and they've never sold anything refurbished. By law they need to state if it is any ways.

My i3 uses 1333MHz DDR3 but this only shows up in BIOS and low level stuff, Windows see it as 1066MHz, they could just be quoting what Windows tells them...

I'd always assume it was new when bought from a trader/professional who hasn't stated otherwise. Although realistically it is often an imperceivable difference to the end user.

I beg to differ. A 17" screen makes it a designer's laptop. A 1Gb 5450 will play nearly anything you can throw at it, admittedly, not my forte (lol, like designing is- too much time on hukd!).

Lol I can't believe people can be so stupid. Such a textbook scam... make an account, sell some tat, buy some tat and then list something at an unbelievable price.
If I got hold of 100 Alienware laptops I sure as hell won't consider selling them at wholesale price!

iBood sends from netherlands AFAIR, brand new stuff, boxed with warranty (cable is EU, but they adds EU->UK converter plug)

~3 years ago I bought Lenovo 3000 N200 from there for ~400 pound and I am still very happy with it...
but 3 years ago they had better things to buy than now.

How often and at what times do Dell update their outlet websit/deals. I mean is it 9-5 weekdays or automated 24 hours 7 days a week ? In other words is it only worth looking at the outlet during working hours (UK).

wireless g only

If you read the terms and conditions they state that all items are grade A, if the items were new then surely they would simply say "New", I think a lot of people are been fooled into thinking they are getting brand new items off this company when they are getting "As New" refurbs...

I would suggest anyone buying one checks the service tag on the dell website as soon as they recieve it this will tell them the items condition and warranty, as I doubt they have 2 years, Dell are usually 1 year (as standard) or 3 years on business machines, but you never get a standard 2 year warranty on a Dell computer....

xcess - The outlet only gets updated 9-5 Monday to Friday

Still nope, you really need an i5 or above for CAD work and a 5450 is one of the lowest spec graphics cards available i.e. this will play some older games witrh the settings way down low

Not bad price, but too big for business travel?

Entry level GPU, so it won't play everything you throw at it.

A decent spec intel 2 core will do anyone justice.

IF you look at the specs for intel core i3/5 on wikipedia there isn't much between the i5 and i3. Things like virtualization will be of little use to the groups I've identified.

Just ordered one from iBood. I was on the lookout for a new machine for software development and this ticks all of the boxes.

That seems quite too good to be true lol. I'll bookmark the page and pop in once in awhile, should have some funny comments in a week or so.

I've voted this deal hot but think the description should be updated to say "Products are A-grade" as iBOOD states.
