The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 comes with:
Core i7-8550U processor (Intel's very latest 8th generation super-efficient 4 core 8 thread processor)
16GB RAM
Both 256GB SSD & 2TB HDD
Dedicated AMD Radeon 530 Graphics (4GB GDDR5 memory on board)
15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) screen
DVD drive
Windows 10 Home

This laptop should rip through any non-gaming task like a hot chainsaw through butter thanks to its fast processor, SSD drive and 16GB of RAM (the dedicated graphics card means all 16GB of main memory should be available for programs). Realistically, it's not a gaming machine though.

An absolute powerhouse of a machine, and remarkably good value thanks to stacking deals:
  • Use code "SAVE100" at checkout to reduce the £899.01 list price to £799.01
  • Claim £100 cashback, making effective total cost just £699.01

(Both discounts end on November 22)

NOTE #1: You should be able to claim 5% of the spend back in Dell Rewards, which can be spent on a future purchase over £100.
NOTE #2: It's worth trying TopCashback just in case (though I suspect it won't be payable because of the voucher code)

Perhaps you're running an ad blocker? The detail of the Dell landing page don't show up with an ad blocker running, but when I test the post using an unblocked browser the link's working fine.

For info, here's the Passmark benchmark for the i7-8550U vs the previous generation i7-7500U. The i7-8550U absolutely shreds its predecessor in multi-threaded mode because it has 2 more cores to play with!

If you'd prefer a larger screen, you can get a Dell Inspiron 17 5000 with exactly the same spec but a 17.3" Full HD screen for £100 more i.e. it will be £799.01 after the double discount trick. Follow the link below:

Hmm should I? I was gutted when I missed out on Currys HP i7 deal for £450

Looks like a good deal. The only negatives I can see here the keyboard is not backlit and the screen doesn't appear to be an IPS. Can anyone say what the screen is like on this Dell?

I can't see any details of battery life. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Also, the SSD, will this be a standard size of M2? Thank

Heat added, but think spec displayed are for different model.

Why do you say that?

When you click on full specs and scroll to the bottom of the page it says inspiron 15 5570! So think the specs being displayed is for that model!

I don't see the contradiction? Dell uses "5000" as an umbrella term for the whole series of laptops, and I'm just copying them here since that's what you'll see at the very top of the landing page.

The actual detailed spec that shows on the landing page is the important thing, since that's what will be included in that specific 5000-series laptop when you get it.

You're right that internally Dell probably call it a "15-5570" because that's in the URL, but they don't go out of their way to use that designation on the page.

Probably more than you want to pay since it's still a LOT more than the above system, but the two discounts in my original post also stack on this £1,399 model which has a 4K screen, bringing it down to an effective £1,199

Thanks - it's better than the lowest I had found before, at least :-/

I wish prices would come down...

Good deal, bit still a expensive lappy.
Voted hot

Cracking deal.

So why am I getting hung-up on a small detail like the non-backlit keyboard?!

The 17.3" is definitely IPS screen, I don't think 15.6" is, neither appear to be backlit keyboards, I'm more interested in the 17 anyway, if only I could get that darn HP offer outta my mind.

Just ordered one
£764 but delivery between 5.12.2017 - 10.12.2017
Thanks 😁😊
