One of the good deals, if you think of getting Full HD panel, Powerful CPU (forget about GPU seriously .. you have to spent over £1300 to get GTX1060 laptop at least or just a Desktop for more or less the same price with GTX1060 at least. By the way great built and battery life on this laptop.

GTX 1050 4GB rather than with 2GB , that's good still!

Been looking at some reviews issues with average display panel. Not happy return it back to Amazon.

Good deal but it's probably worth spending £100 (Code: Save100uk) extra for newer model with Thunderbolt 3 and Fingerprint.

ah i see thankyou

wondering if anyone can help but I have a £1000 budget are there what are the best gaming laptops at or around this price point

Is this the one is this months computer shopper?

The review advises the screen was a let down. “A dull TN panel that runs at 60hz with a maximum luminance of 220cd/m2 very low and makes everything look drab and colour accuracy and balance are way off...”

Just be aware of this if you’re gonna pull the trigger on it

Yes the screens are really bad on these. You can go to pc world and check them out.

If you pay (quite a lot) more for the 4K screen then you get a fantastic display. The Full HD screen is TN which is a bit washed out in colours but the 4K one is a very good IPS display.

Not withstanding the TN screen, this is a pretty good deal. The base model of the new Dell 7000 7577 range is £799 (after applying the code) just has an HDD and no SSD. The next model up, which does have an SSD, is £999 (after applying the code)

look for one with an SSD and a 1060 6gb minimum if you are spending that kind of money and an intel i5 or i7 that is the HQ edition not the U edition

Thats my advice

If you can stretch to about £1200 then you can afford an MSI with GTX 1060 which is considerably better than GTX 1050Ti that in a MSI laptop costs about £1k - Amazon prices.
Think about how much storage you need and screen size as well.
Do you need portability?

GTX1060 MSI
amazon.co.uk/MSI…yte

GTX1050Ti MSI
amazon.co.uk/MSI…031

Have a look here to compare GPUs - I have added 980m as a reference last gen's best laptop GPU (apart from GTX980):

MSI are solid in terms of cooling, build quality and support.

can anyone recommend the most portable gaming laptop, preferably all metal build.

Strange that they only offer an i5 processor for this model. I bought the exact same model 2 years ago for the same price with i7-6700HQ and 960M graphics card.

I bought the exact same laptop too 2 years ago.

The thing with this is the GTX 1050 is much more powerful than the 960m.

I wouldn't mind and upgrade of dell and some exchange program

I get the graphics card is better but the laptop we bought is 2 years old now, at the time 960M card was equivalent to what GTX 1050 is now seeing as how there are laptops with GTX 1070 in SLI...

There are lots of configurations of this machine, with various combinations of 1050, 1050ti, i5, i7 and 4K screens. This outgoing model was sold in clearance through dell for £899 with an i7 and 1050ti a couple of weeks ago, so seems like all retailers are shifting old stock.

It's not that much more powerful as you think:

Just wait and browse hukd, pricespy and ebay. You can get i7 1060 with ssd for under 1000. I bought myself Alienware with this spec for 900 the other week.

yeah I remember checking that one out over a week ago. By the way GTX 1050 with 4GB ain't that bad for £700. I got HP Omen with GTX1050 2GB in Feb for £745, it hardly plays decent games. I had to get XBOX ONE S for under £200 for 1tb version.

1050 is useless

yes can't agree more, manufacturers should be shipping laptops with atleast 1060 for around £500 ~ £700, it's 2017.

coventgamer54 m ago

1050 is useless

It's clearly not. It runs most modern games at 60 fps mid-high. If you want AAA titles on ultra/4k over 60fps then I suggest you are looking at the wrong machines. But to imply the 1050 is useless is incorrect. It's perfect for a budget GPU.
