It's not exactly an earth-shattering spec. for this reduced price - the 10" eee's with a similar spec. have been out for almost a year. Unexcited by this Dell. Sorry MikeT.

Yes, dont shoot the mesenger ;-) , dell dropped the price to the same as the base spec unit so although it may not interest everyone, somebody might be on the brink of buying and can get a saving.

Don't forget you can upgrade the display on this model now:

10.1” HD 16:9 Screen (1366 x 768) £15.00

If only they had a 6 cell battery and / or 2gb upgrade options available :whistling:

Well said !;-)

Ordered one of these a few weeks ago, very impressed, and just fyi, the three weeks quoted turned out to be 5 days instead!!

RAM is not upgradeable on current Dell Mini 10 netbooks

A lot of netbook users like to upgrade the ram, it's worth mentioning then that the Dell Mini 10 specifically prohibits this since the existing 1Gb is soldered on and there is no extra slot...

google.co.uk/sea…+10

Even the Dell Mini 10 product customisation page doesn't allow for anything other than 1Gb. Apparently a 2Gb version (or a least a version with user accessible and usable slots) is coming sometime in the future. For now though, it's 1Gb or nothing which is still fine for most users

Is there any chance of calling Dell and negotiating a better price?

Haven't fired a shot Mike - haven't voted (probably just as well, since it's at -1 just now!) - just concerned that on this occasion the messenger's journey is looking like a wasted trip.

Love the higher screen res option, but could never live with 1GB non-upgradeable ram. My 10" eee, delivered at the beginning of June last year, is currently packing 2GB and a 500GB HDD - all easily upgradeable.

Got the Mrs. an NC10 from Viking 2-3 weeks back on here for £239 - now that's a good price for this spec. of netbook (though I realise it was a bit of a one off).

3 cell battery and 1g ram max is poor compared to the NC10 which can be had for less these days. Screen upgrade is a bonus though. Voted cold as poor value for money.
