Dell Latitude 12 - 5289 2-in-1 - 25% off in Dell Outlet (refurb units).

If you are in the market for a portable, full HD, convertible touch screen (with Gorilla Glass) laptop with a decent battery life then it may be worth keeping an eye on the Dell Outlet for a Latitude 12- 5289 2-in-1 which can be had with 25% off using code DOL5289C.

This laptop usually sells for well over £1k and is a solid bit of kit (if not visually exciting).

Review based on usual selling price of about £1200.

Video - not in English but gives you a good idea of what the laptop looks like.

As usual with the Dell Outlet availability is sporadic and you have to keep your eye open for what you want.

As an example I paid a total of £531.24 & have just taken delivery of my refurbished Latitude 12- 5289 2-in-1 in perfect condition with:

- Windows 10 Pro (64bit)
- 256 GB Solid State Hard Drive
- Internal Qwerty Backlit Keyboard
- 8 GB DDR3 1600MHz
-12.5 Inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Touch Corning Gorilla Glass Display with Mic/IR Camera
- Intel® Core™ i5-7200U (Dual Core,3M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz,15W)
- Standard 1 Year warranty

I spotted this deal hotukdeals.com/dea…-hd but it wasnt quite what I wanted so played around with the code and found that DOL5289C worked for the 12-5289 taking 25% off. (Thanks for original post to SkyBlues1990).

Availablity in the Dell outlet comes and goes (apparently mid afternoon is restocking time but I found mine in the middle of the night around 3am).

Dell Outlet currently have a 12% offer off everything for a couple of days - I'm not sure if their base prices will be inflated during this period???

its 9:10 and they have very little options in terms of XPS range. Did someone nab all the good ones!?

Can only see the 5280 available at the minute so I'll keep an eye open for the 12-5289 - hopefully one will come up.

Thanks for the post :-)

I'm hoping nothing is there each time I check, the bank manager won't be thanking me if I do!

edit: Link opens and instantly close a tab in chrome canary, works fine in edge though....weird.

There is a 5289 listed but lower spec and higher price than the one that the OP managed to get.

I purchased one of the 5285 2 in 1 machines on this deal in September, and they have still only delivered half of it. I am still waiting for the keyboard part. Appaling customer service, I have spent hours trying to get anyone in India to understand, so I think fine if all goes ok but I am dreading dealing with them if anything ever goes wrong. Never again even if they do offer these cheap deals its not worth the hassle.

Interested in this, but cant see this model on their clearance site.

OK, I did find this model, but the coupon did not work as it run out yesterday.

Would help if the original poster gave an indication of the actual price or price range....

'DOL5289C' not working.

Original Poster

It only works on the 5289 - there isn't one in stock at the moment.

I tried the code this morning before posting the deal and it worked.

I posted the price that I paid to give an indication...

There is a huge variation in the price of the units when they come onto the outlet dependent on the spec & whether scratch & dent or refurbished. I had been looking for a week or 2 before buying mine & the pre discount / VAT price seems to vary between 450 and 680 dependent on the condition / spec.

Having said that I've seen the same spec / condition coming up at different prices on different days. I'm not sure what system they have for deciding a price for a particular unit.

The spec goes from:
i3 to i7 Processors
128gb - 256gb SSD
4gb to 8gb RAM.

I think I've also seen a couple with a 512gb SSD & 16gb RAM but they weren't priced well compared to the others.

You've basically posted a deal for something that doesn't exist.

No 5289s anywhere.

No useable 25% off codes.

Only a 'scratch and dent' 5280 standard laptop (12.5", i5, 8GB, 256GB) for £550 less 12% off via DO7212 code = approx £484 with free delivery.

To be fair, that's not a bad price if you don't mind 'scratch and dent' (whatever that means) particularly something like the Mi Air 12 (Core m3, 4GB, 128GB) is £360: hotukdeals.com/dea…721

You should also point out that the code seems to be part of a 72 hour sale.

Cold for me as OP mentions it way later in the post that this is for a refurb. Feel quite misled.

They come in and out of stock all the time (as do all Dell Outlet deals). That is slightly different from "not existing".

I did say in my original post "As usual with the Dell Outlet availability is sporadic and you have to keep your eye open for what you want."

The deal I posted is only for the 5289 (again they come in and out of stock all the time...).

It has nothing to do with the 72 hour sale. (I ordered mine on the 18th October and the 25% code was still working this morning).

Maybe I shouldnt have bothered...

Thanks, it's alright. Probably me than you. I didn't know Dell outlet is only for refurb products Just had to re-read everything to understand what you paid, discount code now & then, refurb etc

That's a few in stock now, just checked and code still taking 25% off :-)

Who nabbed the i7 I was looking at lol

Think you guys have been way too harsh on Tomb here. At the time he posted there was a 5289 machine available and the code worked for it. I know because I had it loaded in my basket. I didn't buy it because it wasn't as good as a spec as I wanted.

Also anyone on HUKD who is interested in buying a a laptop from Dell Outlet should know that they are refurbs by now.

Heat from me.

I did locate the 5289 model yesterday, had it in my basket. But when I applied the 25% code it came up with a message saying "code applied but need further information" a note saying it had expired the day before, what ever I tried it would not give me the discount, I did not try the 12% and gave it up. Noticed it vanished quite quickly so assume someone else picked it up. It was a scratch and dent item. Oh well glad you managed to get it was a good deal.

@Tomb - what power adapter did you get - my order says its coming with a 90W adapter - I thought the standard was a 45W USB-C adapter?

It is a USB-C connector - the adapter says 90w on it. I'll try & post a pic.

What spec did you get / price did you pay (just being nosey) :-)

Same price and similar spec except it doesn't come with the IR camera (for Windows Hello). Does the 90W adapter include any additional USB charging sockets?

Nope its just the power brick & the USB-C connection.

Just to highlight my socks were clean on today !!

I hadn't even noticed the IR camera on my spec. I'll have to look into what that means / does...

As far as I was aware, the 25% code only applied to refurbished items, not scratch and dent.

Just as an addition, I got the following for £600 all in:

Latitude 12 5289
Core i7 7600U
16GB RAM
256gb SSD

Considering the price of RAM is on the up and the i7 upgrade I felt this was a good deal.

That does sound like good machine for the money.

I've just cancelled my Dell order and picked up a refurb off ebay with i7 and 16GB ram for about the same money - the seller has one left and should accept £550 inc.VAT:

Be interested how you get on with this ebay seller (b2day) I had a problem trying to order a laptop, communication was difficult, and in the end they did not respond to me.

I called them to ask a question but they didn't answer the phone, then got a call back from them.

Ordered today, has already been despatched apparently. I guess proof will be in the pudding though.

Sounds like you have had a better experience than me, my concern if it is difficult to contact them when you want to buy an item, what would it be like if you had a problem. Hope all goes well and your happy with your purchase, let me know how you get on.
