This has a recent firmware update so should be good for Spectre.

If you register on their website they'll send you a £5 voucher so theoretically you could get this for £221.56

Looks like a great price. My Samsungs finally died after 6 years. Very tempting.

Think they might be trying to use a forward slash ( / )
Had one of these but the i7 model and it's a really decent machine that both served me well and generated only a tiny loss on price when I replaced it. The screen is perfectly Ok for day to day use.
Hmm. Looks to be a perfect replacement for my terminally ill MacBook. Can’t see any reason this wouldn’t be great for browsing, officey stuff and the occasional game of Hearthstone.
We use these at work they are just the right size and with the ssd are ideal for chucking in a bag without worrying
I sold my 256gb in mint condition only a month ago for £150 :s
Used to have a few of these kicking around at work - as everyone else has said, really good kit

The only issue we've had is the rubber around the screen coming away - really odd thing, but has happened to a few of them.

The machines themselves work very well.
On Gigarefurb they have this Lenovo Thinkpad for £20 more. Looks like near-identical specs. Any reason to go for that over this?

Maybe I've just been unlucky but I would not recommend this company, I ordered a lenevo L450 as a Xmas present, I thought it wouldn't be to bad judging by comments ( I did expect a few marks as it was refurbished) but when it arrived it looked like it was found in a skip, had to send it back and buy another from elsewhere, contacted them 3 or 4 times in 2 weeks to find out about my refund, on my last call to them they said they sent my refund to PayPal and that I had to contact them about it, I contacted PayPal who said they definitely didn't pay it to them and that they must have been trying to fob me off, but luckily enough eBay escalated it to a claim, still waiting for my refund, I'm hoping it will be sorted by tomorrow

They didn't stop as such they just released newer models with each new cpu generation - so you have the E7250, E7270 and 7280 models all with a 12.5" screen and similar size and weight.
will it be able play 1080p movies smoothly?
I need to get my kids (14 and 11) a laptop for homework, web based gaming, maybe some Minecraft. This looks like a pretty good option, the general response seems pretty good. Any thoughts?.

If that is one of the batch 2 ones, that 440s will have a HD+ or FHD instead of a HD screen, so for £20 well worth it, this 12" is more travel friendly, but its only 2" smaller and size does matter sometimes
Strangely 20 mins after my last post I received my full refund
I've never heard of this company.

Any good ?

For the price VS brand VS spex, do not think your kids would be disappointed, the 14" HD+ screen may suit for the older sibling maybe which as someone has seen, is only £20 more. Think you have to way up the build quality of the earlier Dell's versus some of the awful "newer laptops" of today, which can stretch to a lot more with a lot less spex.

Good thing is, other than other children comparing this to a £900 i7 gaming laptop and saying mine is faster, is these can grow with them and be reused, as they go through a bit of earlier education into later school, fully secure to use with remote school access networks and with the 8gb of ram + ssd drive, windows 10 setup will be no slouch for normal everyday tasks & game play + you can always add more ram up to 32gb if needed!

Gigarefurb seem to have a solid review history on most purchases *other than the one out of a skip one above* and by the look of it, keep a good rotation of stock, which seems to sell out fast to their existing client base when on offer.

2nd hand prices, when your children need something better, are good, as in a few years, people will always be looking for a good entry level laptop to start their children off, like you are now

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I quite like the idea of the modular battery system on the Lenovo, so think I’ll give that a shot. Thanks Bitcoin (wish I had some to pay with!)

Welcome @daanuk as for bitcoin, as soon as it plummets to £226 again, you can swop your Lenovo for one!!!
I've bit the bullet and ordered one as I need a general replacement, all I want is for the laptop to be in reasonable condition and as advertised and I'd be happy.
