will no doubt vote this hot, simply because it's got a single more modern CPU and the magic word 'server' !
Haha

Because it's a machine that's just too old, too power hungry and for the money is too expensive. Yes it may have been quite some cost when new but it's not new now and making it's way swiftly to turning double digits in age.

cpubenchmark.net/cpu…GHz
The Pentium in this deals passmark of 2747

cpubenchmark.net/cpu…234
The Xeon's passmark you have linked to of 3953

Just to add that a second gen i7 2500k achieves 6,486 (and other similar performing processors can be picked up at this price bracket in the used market) just shows how much processors have moved on since 2007, just because your post is a Xeon does not make it an automatic deal. As to your tantrum, some of the "idiots" also have not voted on this one either as I think this is neither hot nor cold, but probably helpful to some people looking for a server machine with basic specifications, but then again this is also brand new in 2014 and a bottom rung machine in the server line up from Dell.

Throwing a wobbler when your deal doesn't get voted hot does not assist your cause and probably has caused negative bashing as people decide to vote for both the deal and posters attitude, yes you think it's a deal, however the majority on the site think otherwise. If you like it so much go out and buy the HP, however, as others have pointed out pound for performance it's not as good a deal as say a second hand i7 or Bulldozer based desktop machine or for general performance.

have been given responsibility to get a server for work, our indiviudal terminals not holding out anymore, thought about dell as they could look after everthing, but when i looked at prices, the server cost is only the start then the licenses and the backup went to a over 3 thousand and only looking at 4 workstation !, am i missing something with these servers, only need to be able to access the net, run sage software and microsoft office programes eg word, excel etc?

It's a big responsibility if you don't really know what you are doing. If you are 'upgrading' the M$ software and are not working in a workgroup then it will be expensive. Traditionally server software (client/server) is expensive.

As regards this so called server, as it is it's little more than an expensive workstation. With one hard drive, you're not going to be using the built in raid, and there isn't even a dual power supply. And of course, it doesn't include any operating system
